That's a lot of irregularly shaped space to insulate on the walls and ceiling. What's the preferred method for doing that these days? Spray foam?
Brandine: Now Cletus, if I catch you with pig lipstick on your collar one more time you ain't gonna be allowed to sleep in the barn no more!
    Cletus: Duly noted.

Spray adhesive and thinsulate/Havelock. Furring strips thin enough to contour to the body but thick enough to hold a screw/nail. Like 3/4. Then paneling of choice secured to either the furring strips or pre-placed rivnuts.

^pretty much. it's actually more square than my promaster

i'm going with: fill all cavity's w some spray foam, mainly pink r30 unfaced batting. rip 3/8 or 1/2 in ply into strips to create uniform "studs"

i got some rolled garage door insulation, like 1.5/2 in w vapor barrier, will tack that up, then cover w grey or black felt. then run Japanese style strips painted white most likely

rear door and slider will be "accent wall style, maybe. will also cover the entire outside of the rig w hand drawn giant dick and balls. give it some pop.

Sometimes sand gets in the release button for extending the legs, just spray/pour water in them to get them unstuck. Very frustrating before I figured this out.

For washing bins I use collapsing ones to save space. Also usuful for carrying shit to/from vehicle. Or for keeping beer cold, like in this super realistic photo.

Once I got used to extending and compacting from tall i love mine. Plus I can open it into a triangle and put it between the two rear folds of my trifold mattress making it a perfect chair. Only problem is they're not very compact for stowing.

Sometimes you can get lucky on FB or Craigslist and find a steal on a set someone took off for something boujee.

I've got a couple sets of $100-150 Promaster wheels bookmarked for your old rig.

Edit: here's a set of takeoffs for $250 in your neck of the woods. They're alu, but at that price who cares. https://bozeman.craigslist.org/wto/d...514668005.html

From what I remember when I was shopping, the awd transit requires a different wheel offset than the 2wd. Might be worth some research.

The transit forums can tell you which aftermarket wheels are available. Only 2 choices right now I believe. I've found take offs on craigslist lately. I posted two local to me in Colorado recently. Should be anywhere from $400 to $900 for wheels and tires. People don't sell the rims alone often. They want to dump the stock tires as well.

This! I used a mix of Thinsulate and Havelock in my van. Working out great so far. I didn't buy the 3M 90 hi-Strength. I used the 77 spray. Has worked just the same and you get to save a few $$

^ that thing is awesome. Probably needs 10/15k powertrain work but whatever.

Seems super cheap for that build out, and no mention at all of mechanics on the rig.

    Sweet though

Ski RV's, who's sleeping in parking lots?

Ain’t no RV but built a simple sleeping platform with foldable legs for the back of my 4Runner. I didn’t want the full width size so made a narrow one and looks to fit well. I can still use one of the back seats if needed and can slide gear underneath. Plus I like the area of additional headroom along the edge (full width that close to the ceiling feels like a coffin back there)

If your over 5’9 you can’t sleep in the back of a 4Runner straight unless you lay diagonal, which is annoying. If your over 6ft you can’t even sleep diagonal.

Spent 3 of the last 4 nights in the new rig camping and riding bikes. I think I'm turning into a van guy.

Nice effort AK47. at 6'1", i can sleep diagonally in my jeep grand cherokee. that was born of laziness. didnt want to be bothered with setting up my tent in the rain
camping in the whites pulling in late one night, so yanked the bike to get wet vs me. still remember just laughing my ass off at how simple that was. that's what fueled me to keep up with this thread. good work with the 4runner.

    Thanks.

I came to that realization this summer solo car camping with my dog. Pulled into camp, drank some whiskey and smoked a little and just decided to sleep in the back. So nice the next morning not having to deal with a wet tent. Just pack the camp chair and go!

I bought some window screens and next thinking Of adding some rain deflectors to vent in the rain/snow.

    I’m a new man.

Rain deflectors are great for winter camping— keep snow out and release some of the moisture.

NOT YOUR NEIGHBOR’S SPRINTER VAN: For sale is a 1996 Chinook Premier 4x4 RV

This isn’t the typical Sprinter adventure van everyone has right now. This is different. This rig is one of a kind, it’s basically an apartment on wheels, on steroids, but without the roid rage. With the 4x4 and dually rear, you can literally take this rig anywhere, I just took it to your mom’s house last night. This is a 1996 Chinook Premier 4x4. Chinooks were made in Yakima, WA (USA! USA! USA!) and are highly sought after for their fiberglass shell and functional floor plans. At 21ft this camper fits in standard parking spots, or will fit flexed out on some big boulders in the woods. Drives great and perfectly straight, even at 65-70 mph, in reverse. Started interior remodel, but still needs some paint to be fully finished. Is it perfect? Nah, but neither are you.
