Rented a ‘17 F-150 and Lance 650 camper from cruise America. Thing drives like nothing on the truck. I think this is the setup I want to recreate. ‘17 or newer F-150 and half ton camper.

Ski RV's, who's sleeping in parking lots?
Only thing was that they require 3 day minimum. They do sell “used” camper. I think it’s one of those “if you’re interested, let’s talk” pricing.
I’m looking around but you shouldn’t look for lariat trim level. Rental was XLT. I’m gonna pencil down every options I want and start looking for an used. I would consider year end sales too, but it would have to be exactly what I want.
I wonder what’21 hybrid’s number looks like....
Edit to add: It almost got about 20 mpg with another adult, a toddler, going up and down some mountain passes.

Hard to take interior photos. Walkthrough layout from Sportsmobile. EB31 if I remember correctly. Full size bed/couch for winter. Heater, stove, micro, fridge, sink, etc. Lots of storage. Built in generator. It is a small apartment with 4x4 and a great stereo.

I want this but can’t afford it... I thought I knew what I want but now not so sure. I think I’ll end up with something a lot cheaper than I wanted because I think I wanna built a shop to store all of my toys including a camper.

You guys think I could survive a California winter (Mammoth and Tahoe) in an uninsulated van with a knock off diesel heater? I don't need it to be 70 at night. At minimum above freezing so I can keep water, but ideally above 45ish.
I was hoping to build another van more suited to winter but I recently got laid off. Saved enough that I can probably get by not getting another full time job until next year but certainly can't afford another vehicle.

One of the Chinese diesel heaters will easily keep a small van toasty warm even without insulation. You'll need enough battery capacity though.
ride bikes, climb, ski, travel, cook, work to fund former, repeat.

Thanks for your thoughts. I have 150ah of usable capacity. From what I can find those heaters draw a couple amps once warmed up so that shouldn't be an issue.

If I was reading properly, interior height was 54". Figuring 16" under bed for storage, 6" for frame and mattress height, i think that leaves me with 2.5' for headroom. Perfect for me, not sure I can convince the Mrs Griz that it will work for her.
Thanks for the info on the low roof AWD.
