Hey what did you do this weekend?

Ahhh. Pretty chill weekend. Launched my car out on the ice, went for a
quick swim, and watched some late night home shopping network on some stranger’s couch. Other than that, not too much.

“it became apparent that Sundby was unsure what had happened”

“Though the circumstances surrounding the crash are still unclear, Wyffels says drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be a factor”

    HUH?

Judging from the debris field and car damage, he splatted and rolled. Would need to be a decent angle to kill the speed of sliding across the ice as well. Maybe he clipped the edge of the ice and cartwheeled?
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

yes, splatted in the shallow water and rolled to its final spot

no way it launched to direct ice and slid less than 100 feet at the speed required to clear the gap

Can someone contact Ms. Leiphold to see if she has any other pictures of the in-run, launch site, landing zone, and comment if this is considered a gap or step-down?

That's quite a yard sale homeboy left on the ice there.

What's the opposite of switch to the road?

No idea how he drove that fast without hitting a house or tree. Something is missing from this story.

Start up at the house below "Dieu", haul ass down the driveway across the road and down the other driveway, jink around the house (tricky), pin the throttle when you hit the back yard, keep your eyes on the prize.

    Maybe?

Scientists now have decisive molecular evidence that humans and chimpanzees once had a common momma and that this lineage had previously split from monkeys.

Looks like he at least had the help of the shore being quite a bit higher then lake level. That is a long staircase down to the waters edge. Looking on Google Earth it could be a 25-30' drop from the embankment down to the lake. Probably came straight down McKay ave and kept going straight. Best guess is the house on the left side of the picture with the bluish purple tint to the roof is the yard the article picture came from. It appears to have a long straight staircase down to the dock and also being able to see the far shore. The houses to the right appear to be the highest above the water with longer staircases and terraces leading down to the water. Still same damn good driving to weave through those trees with enough speed to launch that far onto the ice.

All good theories. We need our Man Friday on the spot to get us primo intel.

DD, I'm positive you're not busy. What say you head on out there and find the tracks where this guy stabbed and steered to launch so perfectly onto the ice? Also, are we sure that's not a Sonata out there?

In high school my buddy did about 100 feet of air or more in a Corolla, landed on water and then kinda bounced into a tree on the bank of a slough about 75 perpendicular feet from the road. It was a roller coaster type road at the bottom of a hill. We figured he was doing 60-70, possibly 80-90.

We used to get 15 to 20 feet of air (distance) over this one traintrack in my buddy's '82 racing Escort in highschool. Felt like we were the fucking Dukes of Hazzard.

Also used to ski behind it on a waterski rope in the wintertime on country roads and ditches.

    Amazed we're not all dead.

I didn't think rockets were an option on the 2003 Hyundai Sonata.
