Yes...the really expensive ones are handmade, generally, and they don't look as though they should be as expensive as they are.

They're one of the last holdouts. Doesn't make their products any "better" than Fiskars, etc. Good for them tho.

The "standard" 10" dressmaker's shears that I use when sewing (sleeping bags, gear modifications, & clothing repair) cost me about $40, and they're pretty nice. The Ernest Wright & Son ones are ~$80, and I suspect they are quite a bit nicer.

Nice scissors are one of those things that is well worth the extra cost, especially when you consider that they will last you a lifetime, and will be suitable for handing down to your kids. Buy the best, and only cry once.

You just have to keep them away from your kids. Or you will cry. Again. And again. And again.

My buddy's a hair dresser. His scissors are like $400.00. I doubt they're really worth that, but hey, the dude makes really good coin with them, so whatever tool he wants I suppose.

When I was a kid my mom showed Old English Sheepdogs. She had 4 or 5 Mason Pearson brushes. She swore by those (and Oster professional clippers). I don't know if they're worth the coin, but I do know that she still has and uses both thirty years later.
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Funny thing is, this particular hair dresser looks like a cross between a hipster and a biker and pulls more split tail than Wilt Chamberlain.

And yes, I'm sponsored. Haven't paid for skis in 20 years.

Who the hell just goes to the store and buys skis? You go to the fucking mountain and ski all the time and you can't figure out an angle on some skis?

^^^^ Oh what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say "Ni" at will to old ladies. There's a pestilence upon the land, nothing is sacred! Even those who arrange and post ginger porn are under considerable economic stress at this point in time.
    Calmer than you dude
