The VT Air National Guard out of Burlington does some interesting low level stuff thru the valleys of S. VT sometimes. Scares the bejeezus out of me.

Slapped on the 200mm with the 2x extender. Set up on a hillside across the valley from the hospital in ST J (just of the I-91 exit). This provided a better side view rather then just looking straight up at them. I was hoping they would fly by a little lower but apparently they were supposed to maintain 1500' above the terrain. So I think they were somewhere between 1500 and 2000' up. Cruising along at a good clip. Not very loud as they weren't cranking and just at a constant speed. My son was a little disappointed.

Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

Since they thought I was coming they did have a personalized, signed, 11x14 promo pic with my name on it waiting for me. Still have it.
Highway to the danger zone is playing as soundtrack to your post.

    How did you do that?

I hear them every now and then (think above 7), but usually seems to be cloudy days so never seen them.

Today was different. They were definitely under 1000ft and came directly over the house. I as in shop with earplugs, stereo and welder going and stoped what I was doing in time to see them buzz the house. Dog was not impressed and hid for the extra few hours.

Man, that pic stirs my Seventies teen longings. Also, shouldn't this be in the trampoline thread?

FOCUS on the cross in the center and observe the blank spot rotating around.

Now you should be seeing a green circle appear and rotating. Now it appears to be rotating, but in actuality, the pink circles are burning an image into your retinas, a negative, which is the opposite color, green. So when the pink circles rotate, they are just revealing the burned image into your mind!
