Pool trivia. It's not the chlorine that smells. It's the chloramine created after urine is introduced.

Worked at a public hot pool. Crowds used to wait in line to pay to stand in the remaining 2ft by 2ft of remaining space for the "healing benefit". It didn't take long before I realized any perceived healing benefit was far outweighed by whatever the crowd was doing or bringing into that pool. Safe to say that one dip in the pool you could guarantee a few people pretty much pissed on you. Good night at the Moscow Hilton.Lots of disgusting happening. Hacking luggies everywhere, squeezing their ball juice from their trunks in the drinking fountains, to dropping turtle heads any number of spots. I'd only go to a public pool , hot tub or steam room if it was slow, well maintained , wore my flip flops anywhere outside the pool and had a good supply of towels. Pretty selective at this point

I learned everything I need to know about the public, and their bathing habits, by lifeguarding at a second tier water park during the late 90s.
I could have saved that study’s authors a lot of time and money. Go ahead fellas, ask me anything.I still call it The Jake.

Re pools...a few years ago in the town I went to HS in a woman went down the slide at the public pool and drowned. Lifeguards were on duty. Only prob was no one knew about it until they found her body 2 days later. That's how murky the water was. Safe to say a few people lost their jobs.

I seem to recall some pretty good stories from you on this topic. Public pools = Walmart + water

The first and last all inclusive I went to in Mexico was an eye opener. Hoards of white trash fuck wits at the swim up bar getting trashed and NEVER leaving the pool, for hours. I didn't clue in until I swam over to get a drink and the water temp was noticeably warmer near the bar. That was the last time I dipped a toe in the pool.

Yeah, there here somewhere. Some genius from that era of my life decided to create a Facebook group to post and share pictures from that aquatic-thrill ride cesspool so we can all relive the terror forced upon us every day when the gates opened.
We did have 40+ girl lifeguards to us 10 or so guys so for those two summers things were all right. Something about guarding under-chlorinated bodies of water in the hot sun really gave the ladies a kind of morally-casual attitude and negotiable virtues.I still call it The Jake.

It’s one thing if you’re dirty...
If you’re just sweaty, that’s not bad at all...do people think no one sweats in a pool?

Just sweaty? That's 99% of what is actually fucking up yer pool. even "if" no one peed at all, folks can sweat up to half a liter per hour...
