More low passes that connect with Viva's pics - Wifey worked on a lot of music videos and cheesecake photo shoots out at El Mirage lake bed in the Mojave desert in the late 1980's and the jet jockeys flying out of Edwards would love to get close to check out the talent. One night after she got back from work she mentioned some weird looking jets were breezing the crew.

Not very long after that we saw the official unveiling of the F 117 on the nightly news and she said "Hey, that's the weird plane we saw out there".

Since we're all telling stories,

When I was about 9 or so, my dad took my brother to Gary Bailey MX school for a weekend at Byron MX track outside of Rockford, Illinois. I was there and rode my MX and BMX bike around, but wasn't in the school.

The "special instructor" for the weekend was an up-and-coming youngster: David Bailey. Gary would explain the best technique for a certain obstacle and then David would demonstrate. After explaining how to take a sand corner with deep ruts, David takes off towards the corner as fast as anyone I've ever seen. As he's headed in, a ROAR is coming in over the tree tops...as he enters the corner, on top of us...about 100' over the trees is a military 727 or 747.

It was loud...loud enough to hear over a 2-stroke 250. It also cast a huge shadow over the entire area we were located. As it comes overhead, David Bailey dumps the bike midway through the corner and lays on the ground trying to cover his head (helmet) with his hands. After he got up and rode back, he said something to the effect of "that scared the shit out of me...I thought we were under attack!" We laughed.

I have zero idea what a massive jet would be flying that low, but I'm sure the USAF or Navy has their reasons.

Not on that one. I bet that was fun. I used to see Diamond Dave at the 7-11 around the corner from Barney's Beanery. He always had a couple of fine slices with him.

Going to try to catch them with my camera. Not too hopeful as it sounds like they are going to whip by at around 600 mph.

Back in the late '80s, had one of these skimming the treetops here in N VT. Flew practically over the house shaking everything. Headed straight for the mountains ~5 miles away. Yoked it straight up and over the ridge line and was gone over the other side.
