Heh. Similar story here. Freshman year of college I owned a 73 bug. Starter motor died and I had no money to replace it. Went on without it for 6 months because I could push start it solo just fine, and it kicked over on the first try like a champ. Only time it was a struggle was one storm day at Kirkwood with 3 others. Motor just got too cold to kick on the first try and we were pushing it all over the Red Cliffs lot trying to get it running. And then 4 of us and our gear all piled back in to drive home. Nobody wanted to take the bug to kirkwood after that.
