    Touring with Twin Tips

Just bought a set of twin tips (icelantic nomad sft), and am wondering if anyone has any experience touring with these? Or twin tips in general?
I would think that they might be a pain to tour in due to the back tip getting hooked when you do your kick turns. You also might have a hard time using them as an anchor etc. etc.
Are there any tricks to touring with twin tips? I have heard that some people have a hook contraption to help them with the kick steps... don't really get that though.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I thiink the real disadvantage is for using them as an anchor. But using skis as an anchor isn't a frequent trick in my touring arsenal anyways. Thus, they've never really bothered me.

^ Haha... I thought about that. I do not want to go to that extreme quite yet.

The "floppy factor" and the overall weight is increased when touring with twin tips. They work though.

I'll add another annoyance factor: The tail clip of your skins likes to slide off the rounded tail. Grinding a flat spot on the tail can help prevent this.

Do you mean a notch? Would a dremel tool work for this? Do you think this voids the warranty?

They tour fine. Occasionally the tail clip will start to slide off the edge, just lift tail and fix. If you have the tension set well then it's not a big deal.

                  This. If you need to.

Ive toured with multiple twins over the years. Most were just fine and never had a skin clip problem except for a pair of older Seths that I put a small notch into the tail and solved any issues.

Not when you choose DPS! Just skip the clip altogether and take care of your skins - always worked for me.

Get the attachments from Climbingskinsdirect.com. I pretty much tour exclusively with twins and have never once had a problem with them sliding off with the hooks. No problems on kick turns, but making an anchor is a son of a bitch.

Twin Tip Hassle: sticking the tail of the ski into the snow on a steep and deep slope to step into bindings whilst holding onto the other ski stuck tail first up hill of you.

People with coexist stickers are ALMOST as bad as tele skiers, although there is some overlap.
