    Another Jong drinks the kool-aid

My registration finally came through so my lurking days are over. I live In Snowmass Village and work in Aspen at the 10th Mtn Division Hut Association so if any maggots want a free trip I get two free spots anytime I want at any hut summer or winter, just that one spot has to be me. I have a lot of backcountry and avi experience and I am always up for any ski mountaineering trips(my true love) no matter how hairy they are. I love backcountry but still got in like 40 days at the resorts this winter. I grew up skiing massanuthin' in VA(warning: I am still a redneck at heart sometimes) mtn biking, and making people my bitch on the lacrosse field(second only to skiing as my favorite sport).

I found this site from a cross-post on Lou Dawsons site of iskibc's descent on Pyramid so thanks for getting me over here iskibc and you guys shouldn't be so hard on Lou(not that he really cares, he knows what he did and what it took to do it). I have the chance to work with him at my current job and he is probably the most down-earth, unassuming guy you will meet and nothing gets him more psyched than hearing about people getting out and skiing, even if it isn't an official 14'er descent. Anyway I look forward to meeting/skiing with some mags and if you ever wonder how I post so much, my job at 10th Mtn is mainly an office job and the office work is boring/easy/nonexistent so I have lots of downtime.

    Cool - I'm glad I read this.

I am appreciating Dawson more and more. I need him right now with this 14er project I've undertaken and his writing is there for me. I don't really feel like I'm going solo with his words in my head. Every single night I'm reading his stuff and some of it I've even got memorized. I'll make an official thank you at the appropriate moment.

Very cool about the huts and I may take you up on that someday. Definitely want to ski with you at some point. And your girl.

So from another redneck, welcome to TGR. It's the very best.

Thanks. Yeah Lou is a real genuine guy. The first time I met him was at a company Xmas party an you kinda get this feeling like, "Is this really the same guy who climbed and skied all these peaks?" He does alot of our website design(I'm our in house web guy which is kind of a joke since I couldn't design a website to save my life, I just happen to be the youngest and most computer literate person at my job) and kinda came off as a computer geek at first. He is super nice though and if you ever go to his site, http://www.wildsnow.com any questions you post he will usually answers, he is like an encyclopedia of CO backcountry ski knowledge.

Any time you are in Aspen area PM me. I am always game and am currently trying to see how many month's straight I can ski. Yeah, its been done before but what the hell.

We all know about wildsnow - please don't get me started or I will get annoyed. I'm doing my best to see Mr Dawson as an unassuming backcountry badass and thinking about that website will burst my bubble.

Been sking year round for a few years now. It's the best. I usually head over to RMNP for lines later in the summer.

I'll be heading to Aspen soon to solo one of the bells. Mebbe you guys can meet up for a happy hour beer?

No worries, I wouldn't want to have any of my bubbles burst either. I only lurked here a couple of weeks waiting for my registration but I quickly learned trying to defend Lou on this site was worthless and a recipe for disaster so beyond my intro I just leave it alone.

Good luck on the Bells. The North Face of North Maroon is getting pretty skimpy, especially the exit at the bottom, at least that is what I've heard. The Bell Chord and the Grand couloir on South Maroon are still pretty fat I think but I haven't been up there yet this spring so that is all just hearsay. Thanks for the invite, I can't believe I've been here a few weeks and have only been called a jong once(way less than I probably deserve). Maybe it's cause I don't talk outta my ass like some jongs who shall remain nameless. We are down for beers anytime just let me know when you are gonna be around. Hopefully we will have a successful descent to toast too.

I was thinking of doing the big (looker's left) couloir on the east face of south maroon, but once I get there and look at it, I might want the tighter line or maybe the bell cord. Gotta see the snow.

And I was thinking of having a beer or two before car camping at the trailhead.

I'm heading out camping in the Gore today and we'll see how things go later in the week. Maybe to Aspen next week.

Don't worry about Lou Dawson - hopefully we'll turn him into a maggot someday. Assimilated!

As far as you being jong'ed, I think everyone was intimidated by the length of your moniker.

I'm sure we know a couple of common people. I do a couple of volunteer weekends every summer for y'all. I believe we're the only volunteer group that sometimes brings a keg.

Who knows, I may have passed you on the trail once too. In late January, we were headed up to the McNamara hut after a big week of storms. 2 or 3 hut folks were at the trailhead and skied up to the hut ahead of us for some quick maintenance (not really sure what) and then turned around, was nice of them (you?) to break trail for us. By the way, did you find a plastic bottle filled with vodka on your way down? We really coulda used that at the hut!

My name is Ravenousllama, and I'm a bored-er.

Some know me from MM, others know me as that f#*king gaperific keyang with a tendency to dress like an idiot. I'm in CO during the school season, spending summers in CA between LA and the Eastern Sierra's. I ride inbounds more than out, but I want to change that this summer. Hung with Splat and some other maggots recently and signed up here.

    Cheers

I'm sure you know Ted and Carol Billings if you do the volunteer weekends. They love you guys that volunteer, it makes our jobs a lot easier come winter. You probably ran into Scott, our field director. I did some hut checks(we do one once a week at each hut during the winter) at Mac in January but the days I was up we didn't see many people. Thanks for the volunteer help and using the huts, we have two new ones in the pipeline right now so you shouldn't get bored anytime soon.

Ted & Carol were the 2 people I was sure we knew in common. Great folks, we have a blast working with them on the huts.

2 new huts? That's sweet. Where are they gonna be (if you're allowed to say)?

I can say but I can't gaurantee anything(the FS is a buracracy like any other and it moves ssslllooowww) The first will be east of Vances Cabin(since Vances is fast becoming surronded by private land) and the Second which is still at least 5-6 years out will hopefully be west of the Estin hut on the opposite side of Crooked Creek pass. Both promise to have some great skiing terrain around them.

hello. my name is JONG and i am a SKIAHOLIC

    'hi JONG'

look at me as a lost cause, as i can't be saved.

i am a ski junkie,a powder derelict, and a gear whore... DIBS MOTHERFUCKERS. pm sent

i have an all consuming fetish for fat (95mm at the waist), explosiv lumber.

i require face shots on a regular basis in order to 'feel' like a normal person.

when i surf the net on my 'puter, i don't surf porn like a normal person. instead i pore over the insane pontifications of a gaggle of maggots equally as snow diseased as myself... (and maybe watch some of their porn.. TR: NSFW )

where i live. what i do. my thoughts. my addictions...

    skiing.

i am a lost cause. but save yourselves.. that way there's less of you to poach my sweet, sweet lines.

You know with a name like that you'd better deliver some seriously sweet stoke through prose and story telling. Welcome mang.

Sup maggots!! I've been a leecher on your site for some time now, enjoying the nonsense, knowledge, and free heli trips (http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=51886) so I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Loren and I live in Golden with Greguar and ski, snowboard, kayak, climb, bike, etc...

After reading the 2,000+ posts outlining what is required to be a maggot, I understand it may never happen, but I thought I would pay homage to you guys and TGR. Thanks for the trip and ski porn TGR.

I'm always on the lookout for climbing and kayak partners, if any of you rippers are ever interested in going out with a novice (IV- and 5.9 sport). Otherwise, I look forward to riding with you guys next winter.

    Cheers,
    Loren

Hi. I realized I never did this, and felt a little quilty...well better late than never. So...

Hi, the names Taylor Morris, spent a little time in gearswap/tech talk and got heavy into that dumb shit with Lineskier101. Well, that's over, he fucked up, everyone got the gear they wanted, and I conceeded, and all is well(Even you with xtrapickles, no hard feelings!).

But that's in the past. I'm from Upstate NY, ski VT and the Adriondacks. Ski a bunch of park due to the whole, lack of snow thing. When we actually get it I'll be hiking around ridges around the mountain, and rippin up trees.

Love to swim, kayak, climb, camp, GOLF, chill, party, and fuck in the summertime.. Should be a good summer, rolling right into a good season.

I'll trade you bc for bump time.

The first 6 years I skied, I was surrounded solely by snowboarders. I was the only lonely one. Strange beginning.

    Here's my intro:
I've been tooling around TGR for the past year or so now. Might as well post. I reside in Stockton, CA, teach high school chem, and spend my extra time skiing in water and on snow. I've grown up skiing the North shore of Tahoe, yet since I've moved to Stockton, I now spend many days at the 'Wood. After skiing a test day with Vets and Splat, I picked up two sets of Bros for myself and my little bro. I enjoy this forum and look forward to seeing some of you on the hills.

Im from MA, grew up skiing at a little resort called Berkshire East, snowboarded for a few years (4-5) and got back into skiing when I was 15 or so, when the whole "newschool" bomb dropped, loved it and dropped out of school to move to Mammoth CA, and Ive been here ever since, no longer a park Rat though i do ski the park when its good, my favorite stuff is natural hits, and B/C booters, love the pow and all that goes with it. I like TGR it is neat.
