just to not create a new thread, I just looked at my online banking statement, and it was just charged today for life cycles.

they said they wouldn't charge people until they start shipping, so that means.... !!

Damn I actually forgot I ordered this thing.

Does the blu ray version even exist anywhere? At this point I just figured I'd made some random donation to pinkbike.

Would be really cool if I got a movie and stuff.

Sorry I have looked at this thread a dozen times and held back... but

Am I the only one that was disappointed in this movie?

    Nah.

Can't fault the imagery. Some of most incredibly well executed shots I've seen anywhere......in anything.

Their little 'plot' thing was pretty weak though. Overall I felt like they didn't really 'do much' with what they had collected and just made a bunch of eye candy. Certainly not unique in sports flicks or anything......but it was hyped way more than most. They tried to have a story line it seemed but sucked in carrying it out. In the end I think that made it feel more like just eye candy....although very unique eye candy.

I've only seen it once in a crowded room though. I might change my opinion on a second viewing. If my fucking movie ever shows up.

yeah, it wasn't even quite the bike porn I had hoped for, and I feel like a lot of shots that could've been sicker were shown too quickly. but the filming was amazing.

watch it high, it's way better

They could have gotten more footage of some of the better riders too.

NO need to apologize. I found it in a similar light as the kid. The videography was pretty sweet, no doubt. The storyline.... if you can call it that had some merit but was lost about 1/4 of the way through the "story". They needed some english/literature major types to step in and help out with this, not Canadian freeriders, Just because the narrator had a deep voice doesn't mean what he is saying is a deep thought.

I often found myself wanting more of what they would tease you with. Huge sick whip over the berm... okay show me the the other angle that shows him landing not just fading in to something else. I brought the lady friend with and we saw it on the big screen. She said she didn't want to go to another bike flick if they were going to be like that. She was more impressed with Follow Me.

Overall tons of potential, great implementation of some filming ideas, great use of technology, but more refinement needed beyond the camera and computer if your going to be making a non-stoke-only action sport flick. I suck at reviewing anything so ignore this post if it doesn't make any sense.

No, you aren't. I think the years of hype is also part of what made it seem like a bit of a let down for me.

The riding they did show was pretty cool. Just could have used a lot more of it.

The narration was cheesy pseudo-philosophical b.s.

This thing is just average. The charged my card back in sepetember, got my DVD a week ago and meh.

Roam and seasons were sick, especially cause they had a cool sound track and awesome, awesome riding. Don't get me wrong, this had some cool shots and all, but it was nowhere deserving of all the hype.

You want a mountain bike movie that makes you stoked? Watch "The Tipping Point" by Clay Porter.

^Aw come on.....there are a little more than just "some cool shots"

I'm sure I geek out on some of that stuff more than most, but there wasn't a single lazy shot in that entire flick.

Glad I'm not the only one to think that...

considering how hyped it was - I was also a bit disappointed. the folks who say it's the best movie of all time probably haven't watched all the MTB movies that are out there...

either that or they don't get stoked on riding all that much..

Loved the shots, didn't like the story line. Mitchell Scott is a great writer, but I think he was tasked with writing stuff to a concept that just didn't work.

I'm with rludes. I also thought a bunch of the effects ending up looking kinda cheesy. The wipes to/from snow just didn't really work.

I talked to some guy after the show and he was totally convinced that the wheat field jumping shots were computer generated. Like the guys were jumping regular dirt jumps, and they just overlaid the shots into a wheat field. They should have actually showed the jumps at some point.

My one sentence review: They spent too much time on creative camera work and snazzy effects, and forgot that a bike movie ultimately should concentrate on the riding.

You're right, it did have more than just "some cool shots", most of the cinematography was down right phenomenal.

However, watching a bike movie that consists entirely of these "Planet Earth" type shots, while being narrated by a guy that sounds like a Grey's Anatomy character is probably akin to watching a "classy" porno with Jerry Seinfeld recounting who is thrusting. You just don't want that guy's voice running though your imagery.

Watching the movie on a proper high def tv is pretty amazing. I can see a lot of the detail being missed at a theater, especially with a bunch of drunk people yelling! I'll agree though, the riding isn't the most impressive, but I'm pretty sure that's not what they were going for. I especially liked the digging/factory/bike mechanic shots. Quite original and cool editing.

On another note, I can't wait to see 3 Minute Gaps.
