If I remember correctly, she paid off her loan from the Iron Bank with the gold she took from Highgarden. So now the Iron Bank is funding her again.

My impression with all the Night King/Whitewalker vagueness is that the show creators want to leave those details up to Martin for the books. Maybe he hasn't fully created the back-story, etc. and so they just left it open for him.

If I were an odds maker, I would seed the Elite 8 as Follows:

If we make a bracket: 1 v 8, 2 v 7. 3 v 6, 4 v 5, then we can do a pool. Let's say $25 each. We can also add in The Hound vThe Mountain as a side bet. Total wins gets the pot. In each match-up, it's who dies first. Anyone interested.

Per this 60 Minutes piece, the author is out of the loop and 'gave up his baby for adoption' a while ago and the writers are making the call. During the interviews after each episode, they clearly sound in control of the plot.
