I guess. I mean, either you believe that it’s the truth or you don’t. The problem with most religions is not just that they believe exactly that, but also have a mission to proselytize. Even accepting that, however...
    1. Somebody who believes that has no place in this thread.
    2. Such a belief is still insidious if not hidden. It is logically inconsistent, and encourages an intellectual laziness that we shouldn’t tolerate. It’s not actually ok to publicly believe in crazy shit.
    focus.

I wasn't describing scientists, or religious zealots for that matter. I was describing human beings. The remarkable thing about science (and a lot of other works of man) is that a bunch of dogmatic, contentious, irrational, arrogant people (not all of them but a lot of them) can come up with something so beautiful (beautiful as long as you're not using it to destroy a city with one bomb, for example).

Another example--cities. While they did a fairly good job of planning Paris, for the most part the most interesting cities are the ones that evolve over time based on the decisions, often individually bad decisions, of thousands of people. Most master planned cities are intolerably bland, the planned part of DC for example.

If Hawking is to hawk : carry around and offer (goods) for sale, typically advertising them by shouting.

    Then yes.

So where Darwin's. WA is now more of a repository of high quality dust, and less religious institution.

It always amazes me how un-religious most of western Europe has become, and yet how they prize their cathedrals.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

Even if they were 100% stone-cold atheists they should prize the cathedrals, they're amazing examples of art and architecture and are full of history.

Indeed. And Westminster Abbey is where they bury the big todos in the UK. Do they even hold services there? It's a national treasure. Like Judy Dench.
As a 100% stone-cold atheist, I would still love to see the Vatican and more.
    No longer stuck.

Stephen Hawking: God didn't create universe

I couldn’t care less what is done with my body when I die, though I’d prefer it if my family felt good about it.
