Such awesome stoke BenK and Klauss. I'm almost embarrassed to post this. Lonely, nearly unloved powder from Mission Ridge backcountry.

It was chilly. Actually for as low as it "got" it didnt feel as cold. Did a tour on the 31st at Crystal and the only time i really felt cold was sitting on a ridge waiting for my partner to finish skinning. Wind was cold on the face but otherwise my lighter weight fleece and flylow higgins jacket kept me plenty warm . made for some nice turns thats for sure! Even spent the night up there and slept in the back of my tahoe. Only had a 20 degree sleeping bag and a wool blanket over that (poly pro undies on and then just a normal sweatshirt and pj pants +ski hat) was plenty warm enough

Skied Wed/Thu/Fri at Crystal. Thu the 30th was the best pre-December day I've ever skied on that mountain after growing up on it. Probably saw a few mags out there. Pink/green jacket, black pants, gray helmet and prototype Wrens with the skull topsheet, skiing hard.

Got some serious faceshots down that tree'd spine, lookers left under High Cambell, snow just billowing over my head - good times! Also tat'd a sick line through the Snorting Elk Cliffs, quite a few chocolate chips though. Saw some tracks down the closed cliffs near Brand X hitting the 25(?) footer. Really wished I had known about the gate earlier, as I saw another awesome line that ended with the same. (first trip skiing my old home mountain since they opened the Northway lift)

A little bit of 40 degree knee-deep joy near left angle - love what they've done to that place:

I agree, first time out there, it was a sweet day. Bluebird and opening day since the road was frozen last weekend. I was impressed with the snow quality at such low elevation, 5,500 feet or so.

I was riding the fish, briefly met you guys hiking out of the first basin. I didn't do any road shots, my first time there and that's a pretty good hike up if you can't hitch a ride lol! Did you park below before you ripped it? Glad you got it proper, sweet video Powaholic.

In the morning I took some snaps on the drive up, some locals had been skinning and marked quite a few tracks before the tows were even running. The longest tow was shut down BTW and they said they need "4 more feet" before they open it, so the "official" ski area is very tiny with lots of hike potential on skiers right. What a weird fun little place.

amen to that, brother. i hope the upcoming cold, warm, cold b/w now and the weekend doesn't hurt the relatively stable snowpack we've been enjoying thus far

That is a good point! I never thought that there would be much of a plus side to rain on snow.

Is it even gonna be worth the drive to Steven's Tomorrow? So bummed on this rain. Why did it have to hit right before my two days off.

Stevens rode well till about 130 when it rapidly went super sticky. Stayed snow at least till I left at 3.

36 and snowing, but definitely snowing.

Yeah Baker was surprisingly pretty good. Didn't get there till 1130 because I had two classes this morning, but I think I showed up just at the right time due to a few inches of fresh.

It was still snowing really hard when I left at 345. Hope it doesn't rain tonight!

I knew I screwed up taking a day off. Called the snow phone at 7 then promptly went back to bed.

xtal held off the rain till the end of the day, and northway in the trees was good till closing. But when it started warming up it got heavy fast. I literally went over the handlebars "cruising" into the base when I hit slush.

My hestra's were beyond saturated after skiing 3hrs in the rain this evening. Made for less than stellar condish for Marmot's demo day.

hoping that this same level of precip sticks around for when the snow level drops back down tomorrow.
