    "MY" new xc race rig

I didn't want to disrupt Tyrone's Niner Carbon fanfare and clutter his thread. Here's MY new xc race rig, complete with some out of work local talent to help model it. I whispered to one of them that he was holding his college education in his hands. IF Ti Deluxe 29er custom ss. Can't wait to build it. Clock is ticking on a big race in a couple weeks.

Actually the newer vintage would be a frame built by Christopher Igleheart But IF is right down the street, so you are partially correct.

Chaka, your frame > carbon Niner.

Chaka - i am jealous. My frame is techy but yours is art. And art trumps tech anyday. You got yourself a dream bike there. Lets ride soon.

Thanks Ron. We are both pretty stoked right now, let's be honest yes, the last of the parts appear to be on route to me earlier than expected, we will be riding these weapons soon.

I had a tough time getting it balanced free standing on my table scale, but I'm calling it around 1600g, 3.5lb with collar, sliders. As you can tell from the pics, it is NOT a TI frame aimed at lightest possible, very burly in the stays. As this is my first 29er, I had to get nearly everything new (shucks) and as a result only one of my boys has a shot at college.
    IF Ti Deluxe Frame
    Fox FIT 100 Terralogic 15QR 1 1/8"
    CK headset
Race Face NEXT SL bar (will prob end up wanting something a little longer, well see)
    FSA OC99 Stem
    Formula R1 brakes
    WTB Devo seat
    Eriksen Ti seatpost
FifteenG cranks, BB (pretty much the only thing I already had)
Crank Bros eggbeater 3 (the new ones with needle bearings and forged wings finally)
Industry Nine SS hubs, thier Al spokes laced to Stan's Crest Rims
Prolly Crossmark/Aspen/SB8 rear, Crossmark/Ignitor/Ardent up front depending on conditions.

I "Think" it will come in around 21.6lbs fully built. Someday I want to get a custom painted IF Green Niner Carbon for cx and general suffering. That would take it to sub 19 land.

Thanks Marshal. yeah, the pedigree and master frame building DNA in that area around Boston is pretty amazing when you think about the history and builders still active today.

No, this hasn't been collecting dust in my garage since late August. I finally got the end state wheelset and wanted to share the final build. (minus a Salsa promoto carbon bar on order).

Independent Fabrication Ti Deluxe 29er single speed. For those wondering if a custom dream bike is worth it…. It is.

From start to finish, Kevin and the rest of the IF folks were most excellent to deal with. They listened to what I was trying to get out of the custom experience, quizzed me to learn more, and readily shared opinions and ideas to get me there. Seven weeks for the frame, as committed.

The ride is fantastic. Plenty stiff, yet takes the edge off on long stuff. Nice and lively, yet extremely predictable. Finishing is top shelf all the way around.

Very happy so far with the build.
Fork: The Fox Terralogic is solid, does what it claims, and well. Still playing with the inertia valve threshold but impressive thus far. Very smuuve.

Brakes: I will never buy another brake again… the Formula R1's are mind blowing. Expensive sure, but a LOT lighter than the Juicy Ultimates they replaced, and a LOT better braking power, modulation. I am going to need to gain a LOT more weight before I would ever need more stopping power than the R1s.

Wheels: I look forward to riding the I9's/Stan's setup. they are brand new, I was riding a spare set of Arches/Hope pro 2s waiting for these (which btw are pretty damn solid, GO HANDSPUN)

Misc: The Eriksen post. Just look at it. Awesome. FifteenG cranks came from my previous ride, love them. Very stiff, and quite light. And bottom brackets are only $50.

As pictured, about 21 lbs dressed for winter battle.

Those are really nice beads-both the frame and the seatpost.
