    High school reunions

My 25th is this weekend. I'm not going. These are a bunch of people I barely knew for 4 years 25 years ago. I can't really see much point other than to shake my head in amazement that the hot chicks of the past are now beasts. I looked at the list of people attending and don't know who many of them are. Of the names I do recognize I am in touch with some and have no desire to see the others at all. I'm going Mt. biking & drinking with my friends instead.

I didnt go to either my 10th or 20th cuz it coincided with paddling trips ,but I used to run into the girl who organized it and she said at the 10th it was suprising because the geeks had stayed in school ,got educations ,got careers were interesting to talk to and seemed to peak later in life ... alot of the cool people appeared to have peaked at 16

Martin Q. Blank: Do you *really* believe that there's some stored up conflict that exists between us? There *is* no us. *We* don't exist. So who do you wanna hit, man? It's not me. Now whaddya wanna do here, man?
Bob: [Pulls out a folded up piece of paper]
Martin Q. Blank: I don't know what that is.
    Bob: These are my words.
Martin Q. Blank: It's a poem? See, that's the problem... express yourself, Bob! Go for it.
Bob: "When I feel... quiet... when... I feel... blue..."
Martin Q. Blank: You know, I think that is *terrific*, what you have right there. Really, I liked it, a lot. I wouldn't sell the dealership or anything but, I'm tellin' ya... it's intense!
    Bob: There's... more.
Martin Q. Blank: Okay, would ya mind, just skip to the end.
Bob: To... the very end? "For a while."
Martin Q. Blank: Whew. That's good man.
    Bob: "For a while."
    Martin Q. Blank: That's excellent!
Bob: You wanna do some blow?
    Martin Q. Blank: No I don't.
    Bob: [Hugs Martin]

Didn't go to my 10th for some of the reasons you mentioned but did go to the 20th & had a blast. What blew me away the most was talking to the handful of people I'd gone to kindergarten with who I probably never spoke a single word to during HS. If it happens, the 30th will be next year.

agree with the beav. The few good friends I have from high school / college - I stay in touch with.

I don't even let HS acquaintances see my pix on FB - why would I want to spend a night with them?

Interesting. I'm going to my HS 20th in two weeks. Never have gone to any HS or college reunion before (never really cared to) but my core group of HS friends decided we should just do it and make a weekend out of it.
Looking forward to seeing hotties now fat beasts and bookworms now butterflies. Me on the other hand weight just about the same (ok maybe 10lbs. more, but not bad).
    Gimme five, I'm still alive!

She's still hot. Or, now she's hot. Would it change your view if I used exclamation points instead of periods?

Went to my 10th. Had fun talking to the people I didn't hang out with in HS, had a horrible time attempting to talk to the people I did hang out with.

    You've got it all wrong.

FB allows you to see whats happened to all those people. Now you don't have to be subjected to the shitshow that is a reunion to satisfy your curiosity.

I never went to a high school or college reunion, and likely never will. I did go to our 10 year vet school gathering, and would go to a 25th if held next year. The difference is the few people in HS or college I care about I am in contact with the other hundreds and thousands are of no consequence to me. In vet school you spend 12-24 hours a day with the same 120 people for four years, so you bond differently, yet there are too many to keep close contact with them all.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

When I went to my 25th, I was amazed at how many brought what looked like their parents along, too!

20th this summer, probably not going, haven't gone to any other.

The person organizing it has my email, and I occasionally get status updates. Right now out of 750 graduating class 25 have registered and paid.

    25

I literally don't recognize any of the 25 names.

Other odd thing is the class webpage shows deceased class mates. I just figured out that my Senior Prom date is dead.

She had amazing boobs, she will be missed.

Not going to the 30th this year either. Thought about going and bringing my fiance just to cause another scandal.

After ten long years they let him out of the home
    excitable boy they all said
and he dug up her grave

I went to my 25th. It sucked. I was mad at myself for going for like a week afterwards, then I forgot all about those assfucks again.

Strange how the cheerleader/football clique attitude never really changes.

I got lucky, I guess. I went to a nerd school (magnet school for science/tech), and at my 10-year reunion, I was surprised how many people (out of a grad class of ~400) I really enjoyed talking to. Not enough to stay in touch on a regular basis, mind you, but enough that every 5-10 years is just about enough.

It is disappointing that I'm probably one of the underachievers, though. No masters or phd, no law school, no mba. I'm a slacker, alright...

I have two friends from HS that I keep in touch with, and one of them I've known since 4th grade or so. I hear all I need to hear about the rest of my class from those two people, and even then most of those names are only vaguely familiar.

Latest update: the kid that took bass lessons from Les Claypool is now in a late-Layne-Staley situation, another ODd already, one kid presumably jumped from the Golden Gate Bridge (car was found at the p-lot and she's never been seen since), and another is a porn tycoon. Another is a fairly hot shit restaurant owner guy and is married to the cousin of one of my grad school classmates from Scotland.

    Whee.

    Cougar city^^

When my HS reunion rolls around, I just go into the bathroom and smoke and spray aqua net superhold hair spray in my hair and dry it with a hand dryer--thats pretty much what I did during high school anyway.
I could go on, and on, and on...but who cares
