Wife and I have been watching Murderville and it's entertaining. The basic premise is Will Arnett plays a homicide detective who gets a new celebrity partner every episode. The celebrity sidekick has to decide who they think the murderer is between three suspects at the end of the episode (the celeb doesn't get a script, so they don't know ahead of time). It's silly and it's funny. It's sort of reality TV meets sitcom.

Watching quarterback on Netflix….it’s good. The Patrick Mahomes features are good/ although the constant wife clips are a bit annoying. She’s seems like a real clinger….having to go down on the sideline before the game, etc. but they have been together since HS/ so he knows what he’s getting. He seems like a great kid/ really likeable athlete.

The Mariota and Cousins features are good too….I like the behind the scene/training sequences for such high level athletes.

It’s worth watching if ur into sports..

Rewatched David Lynch's 1984 Dune for the umpteenth time last night. Maybe it's my rose-tinted nostalgia glasses, but I don't care what the haters think. I still love this one. Don't get me wrong. I totally get it has its flaws. Particularly the distinct lack of screen time for Duncan Idaho's character. However, the practical effects, the Toto soundtrack, and the overall dreamy feel of it all makes up for its shortcomings. (Not to mention Sting!) I know that Lynch had some wildly long original cut and they had to trim it down to what it became, along with a ton of other production nightmares, but still. I found it to be a great time after all these years. Now, don't get me wrong. The Villeneuve version is objectively way better and is a downright masterpiece IMO, BUT there is always going to be a soft spot in my heart for Lynch's trippy version.

Love the music throughout. I mean come on! You just can NOT beat seeing Patrick Stewart and Kyle MacLachlan riding a sand worm while jamming out to Toto!!! Plus, you just can't beat the ending when the credits start to roll. Bam! Right in the feels.

Anyway, I recommend giving it another visit. A trip down memory lane if nothing else. I got a chuckle out of seeing Patrick Stewart (Gurney) charging into battle while holding a pug. Classic.

Finally got around to watching Beyond Skyline last night. I never bothered with it before perhaps due to its less than stellar reception at the box office and equally bad ratings. Well, that may have been a mistake on my part as I ended up having fun with it. Just like its predecessor, it has great CGI, good effects overall, but this time it had a more variable plot which kept it interesting. At first it seemed like it going to be a rehashing of the same story as told from a different perspective, but thankfully they chose to close that first act quite distinctly as we then get to dive into what things are like on the alien ships. There, it neatly ties together the first film and this one with a solid conclusion of that storyline. Third act goes somewhere else which almost felt like a different film, but I just had to go with it and it was fine. Ending wasn't QUITE as badass as the first films, but it still concluded nicely.

I feel like the Skyline franchise was on the verge of something REALLY good, but was held back by low budgets, not the best acting, and perhaps some scripting or production issues. Still, I feel like the creators gave it a solid effort given what they were working with and at least the first two films end up being quite fun. I totally understand the criticisms they received, but glad I went back to give them a chance. I'm not saying they're GOOD per se from a critical perspective, but I don't consider them MST3K riff material either. I recommend watching them back to back. Not entirely sure where I stand on this given that I have only really liked one Zack Snyder film (Watchmen), so presently I am on the fence as to whether I will watch it or not…

Also, I am not holding out much hope considering NF’s dismal track record with expensive action/adventure/sci-if films in their increasingly desperate attempt to create franchises…

All of that said, the cast looks pretty solid…

Although, rumor has it that Snyder originally pitched the story to Lucasfilm as a potential Star Wars entry…

My wife and I stumbled upon a funny sitcom over the weekend called "Still Game." It's about Scottish pensioners in Glasgow. It's pretty old. Originally aired from 2006-2007 but I'd never heard of it before.

At the risk of self-outing myself as a fogey, I also enjoyed this show and these characters. It's funny how frank they are about cock and balls and titties, especially as this was network TV when originally aired.

Did you like it right out of the gate? Or did it get better as it went? Because I'm 2 1/2 episodes in and pretty meh.

Watched Vivarium this weekend. Good performances by Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Poots, but Poots in particular was especially good. This one felt like it could have been written by Stephen King. Very much that vibe, but in a good way. So while not a gory horror film or anything, it hits way deeper than that. Literally gave me nightmares all through the next night, which to me is the mark of a great horror movie. The movie's entire setting and premise is so deeply unsettling in that uncanny valley sort of way (and you'll see why) that it's quite disturbing. This one might be a love it or hate kind of movie so I can't say I'd recommend it to everyone, BUT it hit all the right notes for me for a Saturday night. Wife had mixed feelings about it, but next morning she was still like "Damn... That was a crazy movie, huh?" and wanted to keep talking about it. So even if she wasn't wild about it at first, it lingered with her and kept her thinking. To me, THAT'S the kind of plot I like. Something unique where you'll remember it well for years to come... unlike the slog of super hero movies that've been churned out over the years, where they all run together so much I really couldn't tell you anything about any of them. Haha.

Anyway, check this one out if you're in the mood for something different from the norm. The trailer should give you a pretty good idea of whether or not this one's for you. For me, I was hooked right away.

Wifey and I started watching Devil In Ohio on the weekend.
Not gonna win any awards, and it feels like an episode of Bones meets X-Files, but it’s decent. Kinda formulaic, but entertaining.
