You ever get so high then watch something, then a year or two later watch it again thinking you never saw it?

I got to enjoy Oats Studios twice due to this.

I had an episode of Deja Vu on a Cooking with Bill episode and came to this realization.

The Stronghold [aka BAC Nord]
Shortlisted for France's submission for "Best Foreign Film" to the 2021 Academy Awards, this cops-and-drug dealers effort is teeming with high drama and a solid script that has just the right balance of humor and tension.
While the "based on a true story" plot has some familiar elements, the wonderful pacing and great chemistry between the three leads elevates it above the norm.
In French with subtitles.

This 1998 casino noir features a young Clive Owen and at the time sparked rumours that he would become the next cinematic incarnation of James Bond.
Slow-burn and subtly intense, it's a nice little subdued British thriller directed by Mike Hodges, who is perhaps best known for Get Carter.

Julia Ducournau's theatrical debut is a subtly unnerving coming-of-age story that borrows--and severely tweaks--elements from Carrie and Ginger Snaps.
While it can be rather slow to get going, those who hang in until the end will be richly rewarded with a gloriously WTF, gasp-inducing climax; the whole film is heavily balanced on the reveal at the end, which changes the initial interpretation of everything you've just watched, turning seemingly innocuous moments into major set-ups.
Be warned that it's a tense watch, containing some seriously f%&ked-up scenes of gore and violence. It's also a heavy precursor for the screenwriter/director's Palme d'Or winning latest effort Titane.
P.S.
Not in the least bit vegan friendly.

My buddy and I watched it Sunday night.
He dug it way more than I did, but it certainly is never boring.
Lottsa WTF!?! moments and wonderful surprises; every time it succumbed to a cliched trope they threw something into the mix to shake it all up and keep your eyes glued to the screen to see what insanity would unfold next.
Definitely watch it in the original Norwegian with subtitles.

Directed by the bloke who did the fantastic Dead Snow.

Army of Thieves
The prequel to supreme cinematic turd Army of the Dead is actually a well crafted, breezy action/heist hybrid that not only stands alone, but is a far superior slice of filmmaking than its predecessor.
Thankfully, director/star Matthias Schweighofer seems to not have taken any cues or advice from Zack Snyder as none of that director's annoying stylistic elements appear to be on display here (no slow-mo or jump cuts or blurry out-of-focus shots to be found here!).
While the story isn't much to write home about, Schweighofer does a solid job delivering a well-paced yarn about his goofy safecracker character Sebastian; his effeminate, hyper-nerdy charm is what really elevates the film above the norm. The presence of Natalie Emmanuel doesn't hurt, either, as her charisma and poise wonderfully balance out Schweighofer's gleeful schtick.
While nothing earth-shattering and a far cry from other modern Hollywood heist staples (it's not in the league of, say, Ocean's 11 or The Italian Job, but kinda close), Army of Thieves proves to be an entertaining diversion nonetheless.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but just discovered I’m Sorry on HBO max. It’s one that both my husband and I find hilarious. (maybe not as relatable to young single people) Looks like it’s only 2 seasons canceled during covid.

The Harder They Fall
This kinetic revisionist Western borrows/pays homage to Spaghetti Westerns and Clint Eastwood's 1970s Hollywood Westerns, tossing in a lot of stylistic tour de force vusual elements to boot.
The cast is phenomenal and the dialogue is whip snap sharp.
My only complaint was the heavy use of slick R&B and reggae mixed in with a somewhat generic (and equally slick) score; often times the garish soundtrack detracts from the gritty action. And while there is some off-kilter imagery, the film, at least storywise, is ultimately akin to the more traditional and classic 1950s Hollywood westerns than anything else.
Yet if you dig Westerns and lottsa acrobatic gunplay peppered with wry and sly dialogue, then this is a hoot.

Pleasantly surprised by Arcane. Went in with no knowledge whatsoever, was not pleased to see opening episodes with too many kid "issues", but once they grew up (5th epi?) I was hooked. Story line really kicks into gear, animation is great.
