    The Old Ways
I watched this last night after it kept popping up in my news feed about how it had a 100% RT rating.
I dunno what film all those Tomatometer pushers watched, but I can't believe it was the same one I watched. Perhaps I missed something?
It is basically The Exorcist in Mexico and the ending is straight cribbed from The Sentinel (1977).
There's a dead-end through line about drug addiction that may or may not effect the story, it's hard to tell (the ending hints at this, but not really; it's all muddy and vague). There are some cool moments, but overall it reeks of deja vu. Methinks folks are giving it heavy exotic bias.
    Naturally, YMMV.

New miniseries, The Chair, is well done. Touched on a many current cultural themes with a dose of cringe and humor. Definitely worth watching if you are in academia.

    Yes.

A lot of Radiohead woven perfectly

Love Peaky Blinders. Season 6 in 2022.

    Gunpowder Milkshake Pt. 2???

I swear I have seen this story before, just rendered with different actors...feels like the plot was cribbed from a Dolph Lundgren d-t-v joint from the early '90s...

I am starting to feel like NF is doing to action films what Blumhouse has done to horror films.,.

Turning Point on Netflix (9/11 documentary). Hard to relive it all, but was well done and very educational.

I highly recommend the main Ip Man series all directed by Wilson Yip and starring Donnie Yen.

    Ip Man

    Ip Man 2

    Ip Man 3

    Ip Man 4

Once you have dived into those, there is also the spin-off:
Master Z: The Ip Man Legacy

I enjoyed Birth of the Dragon.
I actually saw it in the theater.
It got panned by critics, though.

But I think it's worth a watch on NF for sure.

Me and the missus are quite enjoying Sense8. Not shy on the sexy time, quite modern romances, kickass fight scenes, cool cinematography/locales and very unlikeable bad guy. Lots to like here IMHO.

“Brand New Cherry Flavor” and “Midnight Mass” are both pretty insane. Recommended.

Let me take that back; “Midnight Mass” starts strong and very quickly falls apart. Don’t bother.

Is Netflix kind of dead? Yes, Ip Man was great... but are we going to be able to unearth classic old content that often? And the new shit series shit is mostly shit.

Netflix sucks now. Apple TV seems to have the best lineup right now.

See, The Morning Show, Ted Lasso, Foundation, Servant, For All Mankind, Greyhound.

My kiddo and I have really enjoyed the World's Greatest Vacation Rentals. Yes, it's a cheesy premise with unrealistic millennials as hosts. But some of the places are really cool. And the obnoxious millennials grew on me. If you like house shows at all, it's worth a click.

Squid Game is worth a watch.

Sure, it borrows heavily from Battle Royale, Persons Unknown, all the cinematic incarnations of "The Most Dangerous Game" (The Most Dangerous Game, Hard Target, Surviving the Game, and Quibi's Most Dangerous Game), plus elements of the Saw series, yet it has enough originality to make it worthwhile.
The production design is Escher-meets-Wonka, the gore comes in slap happy bursts, and the characters, while built on familiar archetypes, are actually engaging and watchable.
Definitely one of the better foreign series NF has snagged.

I’m just a few episodes in and found it sort of fun, but derivative and also thought of Battle Royale. I’m surprised it’s as popular as it appears to be, but will see where it goes…
