Binged it in 3 nights. Excellent, 5/5 stars. Premise sounds boring as hell, but it’s very very good. Recommended.

Yes, read the book years ago and loved it. The show is just as good. (The same author also wrote The Hustler, The Color of Money, and The Man Who Fell To Earth.)

Queens Gambit is really good. 6 of 7 episodes in the books.

Agree with the takes above. Get past the premise of the show. It’s outstanding.

Anya Taylor-Joy really killed it. Easy on the eyes too.

    'Oktoberfest Beer and Blood'

Probably the best series ever made. Ok, maybe not really but it's like Peaky Blinders, Deadwood, beerfest and GOT all rolled into one kinda cheesy series. It is worth your time. Dubbed, and lots of German authenticity.

Mrs Flake and I are both enjoying The Queens Gambit. Just watched the first episode of The Liberator, it’s really good.

Hopefully my sarcasm showed through. It’s pretty bad, but I’m gonna finish it.

In that case, I am glad that I still have 3 seasons of Wentworth to watch.

    You totally had me going.

I am 2 episodes into Queens Gambit. I'm enjoying it, but a little part of me is surprised it's not more awesome given all the people everywhere going apeshit over it.

I don't chess much these days but the acting around the chess bugs me. A big moment of shock when a piece gets taken as if these amazing players had no idea that might happen.

But yeah, better than its genre.

Aunty Donna is pretty hilarious. Along the same lines of Tim Robinson's I Think You Should Leave Now.

That movie is supposed to be awful. A movie written about people struggling from people who have never had to struggle in their lives.

I dont get the criticism. It wasn't what I expected, but, I didnt read the book. J.D. got a ton of press when the book came out for supposedly writing a thing that explained why Trump got elected, so I thought it would be more political, in some way, but it was a pretty decent look into some kids life escaping generational poverty in the holler. It has its moments, for sure, and Close is bizarrely fascinating as the matron of the family.

I like Ron Howard's movies sometimes. Watching this inspired me to go back to Rush right after we saw it, because my girlfriend never saw it. The best auto racing film ever.

And a great acting performance by Sacha Baron Cohen as Abbie Hoffman.
