if you like Torchwood you will most likely enjoy the Doctor. Its slightly less cheeseball than Torchwood. I prefer Dr. WHo to Torchwood myself, but admittedly, I haven't put much time into Torchwood to really get into it. If you do start watching it, give it some time, they change the Doctor at season 2 and then again at season 5. Each guy plays it sightly different so you might enjoy one more than the other. I think if you really like torchwood, seasons 2-4 will likely be your favorites.

Wife and I just started it a few weeks ago - enjoyable, and if you liked Torchwood definitely check it out (I couldn't do Torchwood, but might like it more now that I have the Dr. Who background).
Note: he is saying 2-4 of the reboot, not 2-4 of the series as the series is like 25+ seasons. Season 1 of the reboot is the 9th doctor (I believe?) - about the time you get to really liking him, they switch to Tennant who does a great job as the Doctor.
And we just watched this last week - it is an awesome reminder that no matter how gutsy you think you are, these dudes were a whole different level. Seriously huge brass balls.

yea the reboot, though i don't think they have the original seasons on netflix. It took me a bit to get used to Tennant as the new Doctor, but he was really good once he hit his stride (and I got used to him). Though I have to say, having started season 5 I think the new guy might be my favorite

Bailed on Dr. Who for now. Started watching Stargate Universe on a whim and am fully addicted. Awesome show.

Summer doldrums led me to find "The god who wasn't there" documentary on Christianity. I'm areligious, not anti, and no scholar on the subject matter, but found it interesting to watch. It's available on streaming Netflix or can be viewed for free at link below.

People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

A big thumbs down to Netflix for pulling stuff off of on-demand. The pulled Cosmos and a couple other things I had in my instant queue.

From Paris With Love- Over the top action flick with Travolta. I was expecting to pick up a book half way through, but the amount of killing kept me watching.

I think that's because of their dispute with Sony, which is supposedly resolved, or being resolved.
Anyway, watched shutter island today. Very impressive.
Wonderful world of whites the other day. That's a good one for sure.
Fun vampire movie: daybreakers. Surrogates was a fun sci fi flick.

The Universe: Season 3, Episode 2. Seriously mind blowing. You could write 1000 cool sci fi stories from the concepts (and potential ramifications) contained in these 44 minutes.

Thanks for the rec... watched it and LOVED it. I've been a Bill Hicks fan for a long time - but this was VERY eye opening. That stuff about them sharing a vision while tripping on boomers was wild.
Nice - that sounds right up my alley. Will check it out tonight.Last edited by Poop~Ghost; 07-12-2011 at 06:31 PM.

PSA for DVD renters:
"Netflix users who want both streaming content and DVDs delivered to their homes will now have to subscribe to two separate plans at $15.98 per month. Netflix announced the changes to its pricing structures on the company blog Tuesday, pointing out that there are now completely separate streaming-only and DVD-only plans, and none that include both. The changes go into effect in September for existing subscribers, or immediately for new Netflix members."

^yup, just dumped my DVD subscription today.
I think you have me confused with someone who is far less awesome.

Just got the email. I'll keep the DVD plan through next month since the pricing change takes effect September 1, but I'll be streaming only after that. I can only assume this move is 100% meant reduce DVD subscribers

Wow - that just sucks. Still $16 a month for both is really friggen cheap compared to dish or comcast. I'm sure that they'll wait a year, up it another $10 a month, etc.

Mine said $17.99 to stay on my one disk unlimited. But I think that may be because I have the bluray option as well.
