    China photo TR

It's a photo TR, so I'll keep the words short.

I had the opportunity to go to China for a few days earlier this month. Sadly we didn't have a lot of time for exploring, but we did get some time at the World Expo in Shanghai and we got to see some of the sights in and around Beijing.

As always, comments and critiques welcome.

    Using a Nikon D40 with the two kit lenses (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 and 55-200mm f/4-5.6) and a 50mm f/1.8

10 is with the 55-200 and 15 is with the 50

fkna. lots of cool shots in there. i really like 8 and 4 but I'm no authority to critique, they just really catch my eye.

    15 is intriguing.

I like 4,8 and 10. What is 10? Did you consider cropping the colored top portion of 8 out?

Awesome stuff. 6, 7 & 10 for me. What is 10? Tips of some sort of fiber optic lighting?

Todds, I looked at cropping out the colored part of 8, and I really couldn't decide which I liked better, so I figured I'd just stick with what I originally had in mind.

10 is a tight shot of the UK pavilion at the World Expo. I didn't go inside because I don't like standing in 3 hour lines, but apparently these "rods" on the outside go inside where the ends hold a seed from one of 25% of the worlds plants. Noonan is correct, as they act as a fiber optic light source, collecting sunlight from outside and lighting up the inside.

That's the Korean Pavilion at the Expo (as is 11).

It's a great shot either way. I showed it to my wife and she thought the original was far superior to the crop.

    cool album, nice angles.

16.2 is most intriguing to me thinking about the overall context of this set. I like the subject, the angle, the lighting ... maybe I woulda added more highlight contrast for the text?

Why it intrigues me is the idea of deep full red as a symbol of the Republic, the flag, the revolution, and yet you have two major icons here together. The icon of bright Red and the icon of Coca-Cola - the West, the future, money, development, consumerism. The overcast and dampness gives it a very eerie feeling overall.
