The above is yet another reason why Cleveland will continue to be a no championship shithole.

I'm curious to know what about the letter makes you think that? Seriously. One would think that that letter is simply ownership renewing their promise to what I would consider are some of the most loyal fans in the NBA in an economically depressed area in a very down economy; almost a thank you and promise all in one. You didn't see that?
Do you think LeBron's actions over the last week leading up to the hour long simultanious ego-stroking-turd-dropping we all "witnessed" tonight were appropriate?I still call it The Jake.

Lebron could live anywhere and change his residence at anytime he wanted, he could buy his own island and commute to games view the jetstream...but he will never be able to change the fact he was born in the town of Barberton, only about 30 miles south of the city of Cleveland.
Metphor:
A man married to his so-so-goodlooking wife and mother of his two children for 10 years fucks up his marriage because he was selfish one night and wanted to get laid...so Mr. Douchebag does what is smart for his selfish desires in the "heat" of the moment of that night and fucks a beautiful supermodel when the situation suddenly presented itself. In the process he destroyed his marraige, ruined his kids' happiness, blew the trust and love of his faithful wife.....Lebron is fucking a supermodel in the "heat" of the moment right now, but it might not be the best long-term decision for him and those that love him, when he should stick to the commitment, loyalty (ironically like his tatoo), and responsibilities he unwittingly accepted by being born and growing up close to Cleveland and becoming a superstar to that very town...
Fuck-you Lebron, now a symbol of all that is bad in the USA...Mr. Lebron James, you ARE a douchebag."There's a truth that sanity denies...." --Sprung Monkey

Now-a-days, younger people do not want to work to get to their goals, they want instantaneous gratification, they want it now...they want to find the shortcut to get the stuff they want, find the path of least resistance...all things destroying society...all things I saw Lebron display tonight.
Lebron you are a massive fucking douchebag."There's a truth that sanity denies...." --Sprung Monkey

Bodhi, I sense you are holding something back. Let it out man! Let it all out! Tell us how you really feel about Lebron; you'll feel better afterwards.
As for Cleveland, what free agents are left that they can add to become a championship caliber team?
Personally, I don't think the Heat win a championship next year, and maybe the year after that. They've got no depth, LeBron has shown he doesn't respond well to pressure (and it is on now for sure), and I can think of five teams in the East that will be gunnin' for the Heat. Plus, did you hear the language of his announcement? He says he's taking his game to "south beach." That guy has got things other than basketball on his mind...Shut your eyes and think of somewhere. Somewhere cold and caked with snow.

The best basketball player in the world expected and received a shit-ton of press for changing teams? You have to be kidding. And he decided to leave the state of Ohio? What? And he is motivated by money? Huh?
He doesn't owe anyone anything. And thats just a function of the system that money created. Its market forces. You want him in Cleveland, offer him something Miami didn't.

lebron had valid reasons to leave cleveland. but the manner in which he left (tv special, etc...) taints his image tremendously. i'm guessing he's gonna see alot of neutral b-ball fans turn on him...

He's a ratfucker. Ownership makes it about business when they waive someone to avoid paying a bonus, or void a contract, or ask someone to restructure a contract, or outright release players to avoid honoring a financial responsiblity to them. But when a player takes control of their own fate then ownership makes it about loyalty and the player is selfish. Fuck Dan Gilbert, you buy the ticket and you take the ride. Maybe you should've drafted Al Jefferson instead of Luke Jackson.
Lebron played out his contract, which had expired. Nobody owed anybody in that equation. When you break up with your girlfriend and she stands out in your driveway screaming about what a selfish piece of shit you are, you realize that you are lucky to have gotten out of that relationship. Lebron is lucky he didn't waste another 6 years on that death ship.Last edited by JoeStrummer; 07-09-2010 at 01:01 AM.

I agree, my pointing out Gilbert's net worth hit was meant to highlight his hypocrisy. I'm also making the assumption that he's just pissed and lashing out right now because of the franchise's devaluation. In other words, he's selfishly pissed off about his personal and business situation and calling out Lebron on his narcissistic character.
Still, Lebron pulled a damn near sociopathic move to roll out the dog and pony ESPN show.

The way the guy came up so small in the playoffs this year Cleveland will be better off for it in the long run. The guy is a class A douche, an amazing talent, a compiler of stats but certainly by no means a winner. Not a douche for leaving Cleveland because frankly who the fuck would want to live in Cleveland anyway. But the way he ran this courting process and then the cherry on top with last night's sit down with Jim Gray in a very public FU to Cleveland was pretty low class? How many rings has this guy won? When has he come up big in a clutch moment? The Cavs built that team around what he wanted. Bring in a 40 year old overpaid Shaq, ok, Lebron wants Mo Williams, ok etc etc. Cleveland went out and got whatever he asked for and he still let alone win but even show up in the playoffs. Hope he likes living in Dwayne Wade's shadow down in Miami.
Look at Kevin Durant for the way this shit is done right.

Dude sucked his dick until the inevitable happened. Now he uses words like abandoned and self-proclaimed King. Be the bigger man and go out and win that championship. They haven't shown they can do it with lebron so why should I now believe they'll pull it off without him.
I saw an owner who should have won a championship the past 4 or so years but continually made moves too late. Shaq, Mo Williams and Jamison? For real?
As for the question about the court jesters actions over the last week I haven't said anything about them being appropriate as a matter of fact I find his attitude and this whole thing to be a joke and using the Boy's and Girl's Club makes it even worse. Cut a check and call ESPN and tell them you're going to the Heat.

While I agree that most often giving in secret is the purist way to give, most likely his talking about it spurred further donations to the charity, or at very least focused media attention to their mission. I can't see that as a bad thing.
Cleveland fans need to get over their pouty butthurt. Lebron has every right to pursue his career goals, it is his life to live. People who don't understand that, desperately need to quit living vicariously through others and develop satisfaction in life that isn't dependent on others performing for them.I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. -אלוהים אדירים

Good God. Sorry for Cleveland, but you had to see it as a serious possibility. People change jobs all the time.
Johny Damon going to the Yankees was a bitter pill for Boston, but then there's the dumping of Nomar. It's all business, and you have to stop pinning your self worth on these guys who could give two shits about you. They're all mercs anyhow.Screw the net, Surf the backcountry!

Everyone realizes that basketball is a game, right? Like they throw a ball around to each other, and nothing else, right?

I could care less about NBA, but after about 2 years of listening to Packer "fans" bitching about Brett Favre all I can think to say is try listening very carefully. Cleveland fans may just hear it.
Or just pop in Major League and you'll feel better. But then that may remind the Cleveland fans of the fact that even the fictional Cleveland Indians would rather play ball somewhere other than Cleveland. On second thought maybe a Cleveland fan should just pop in A Christmas Story and buy a Red Ryder BB gun.Last edited by Grange; 07-09-2010 at 08:42 AM.
