    Twin Peaks!!!

"Excuse me, but this is one DAMN fine cup of coffee."

However, as Jer noted above, the series is definitely a little top heavy. The first 15 or so episodes are bangin'.

Give a look at The League, it was on FX last Fall. Only 7 or 8 episodes I think, but a funny show. Also, cant go wrong w/ Sons of Anarchy, Eastbound is hysterical, and Burn Notice....

rad concept, saw one episode on late night tv then ran the series through netflix.

You came looking for the best, and it has been mentioned. The Wire is the best tv show ever made, period.

    Coming in close-
    Generation Kill
    Band of Brothers
    Mad Men
    Arrested Development

    really good-
    Dead like me
    True Blood

some great ideas here for summer time-wasting.

Deadwood is awesome but sad that it's only 3 seasons and no real closure.
same for Carnivale, only 2 seasons but another cool show

i didn't see it mentioned but the new Battlestar Galactica series is excellent if you like SciFi.

any other SciFi series anyone can recommend? I'm outta the loop.

i still think the last episode of 6 Feet Under is probably the best hour of TV i've ever watched. it's worth watching the entire 5 seasons just to get to that one episode.

my father's favorite show back in the day. that would be a good show for 70s nostalgia.

anyone remember 'the night stalker'? it was like the rockford files with vampires, werewolves, and other various paranormals. i used to love that one in the 70s.

Yep - I think it was actually called "Kolchack - The Night Stalker". That was rad.

Didn't see anyone else mention it, but top gear is awesome. Even for non-car enthusiasts.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

Carnivale is a true allegorical masterpiece IMO and has been lost amongst the tripe

    Deadwood is just plain rad

Agreed. Odd that two of the all-time masterpieces of hbo's effort got cut short with hasty endings...

Carnivale is amazing, Ben, Samsom, Brother Justin, wow. Remember him from the original Highlander? Clancy someone. Great stuff.

Deadwoods Seth Bullock? The scenes between Al and Mr. Woo?

If you have never seen it, netflix them both from season one.

Spartacus Blood and Sand was fucking one of the best things I watched in a long time. It's like Gladiator with more plot lines and tons of titties. Awesome fight scenes can't wait till it comes back.

Whats the deal with Deadwood seems like it got a ton of recs

Another one for The Wire. I actually am just now watching it in the same format you would (via DVD). Just finished Season 3 and moving on to Season 4. As mentioned above, SO underrated. Really well done. I am hooked.

Another vote for Arrested Development - funniest TV series I have ever watched.

Edit: Obvi Eastbound and Down is amazing, but only 6 eps. My favorite quote ("Good Times on the Reg"):

"He is god of snow; the one called Ullr. Son of Sif, step son of Thor. He is so fierce a bowman and ski-runner that none may contend! He is quite beautiful to look upon and has all the characteristics of a warrior. It is wise to invoke the name of Ullr in duels!"
