The finale of deadwood was not that bad. I can think of many shows that ended much worse. It was a little anti climactic, while at the same time gut wrenching. All said a great series and worth the time. Next.

For half hour fun, Parker Lewis Can't Lose (Think Ferris Bueller). Seasons 1 & 2 are out, 3 comes out later this year.
Highly reccomend the 80's version of the Twilight Zone. A lot of good stories in there.Good runs when you get them.

Parker Lewis Can't Lose, Awesome! I hadn't thought of that since back in the day
and Mr. Show murders it.
how about Tales of the Golden Monkey or Tour of Duty
-I guess the question needs to be stated: How high will you be while watching said series?

holy chit, this might be it. there was a ferris bueller like series where there was the funniest line i ever saw at the time on tv:
guy was taking a test, maybe the SATs, he had the flu or something.
excuses himself to go to the bathroom.
comes back in all pale and disoriented and says: "corn? i don't remember eating any corn...."
is that it?

I remember the corn line from the Austin Power's movie with Fat Bastard, but we haven't watched all of PL yet. Really doesn't sound like a PL line though - too potty. FWIW, there was a one-season "Ferris Bueller" show that wasn't nearly as good, so it might have been that one instead.
If quirky comedy is what you're after, here's some others.
Sledge Hammer and Police Squad
The Tick - live action. The cartoon was OK too.
My Name Is Earl for something more recent and karmic.Good runs when you get them.

Started watching Spartacus and its pretty interesting - lots of tits, ass, and fucking mixed with some weird blood splattering scenes which actually just look bad. Amazing how there is actually more fucking than fighting in the movie - Soft porn.

good show. kinda on the light side, not laugh out loud funny except sometimes for ted danson's character. the prostate exam was classic. i think it's his best role ever.
looking for comedies at the moment. my wife and i are all caught up on 30 Rock and The Office. what are some other good comedies that aren't dumbed down for the masses?

While I personally have not watched any of these, several friends highly recommend the following:
Life On Mars (the BBC series)
Luthor (BBC series)
Edge of Darkness (BBC series)
State of Play (BBC series)
as for my personal recommendations:
Firefly - incredibly savvy sci-fi series that never got it's due justice.
Extras - if you liked Ricky G. in The Office, this is a pretty funny series about him being an extra in big Hollywood movies
Spaced - hilarious British comedy starring Simon Pegg pre-Saun of the Dead

Great thread... My personal favorites are It's always sunny and about every season of the office, the character play is amazing in both of these. Also Dexter is a good series to watch and is fun to follow. Just started watching Modern Family and have nothing but good things to say so far.

Brotherhood is a great gangster/mob series. I think they only did 2 or 3 seasons on showtime.

Highly recommend a series called Intelligence. One of the best series I've seen. It is a canadian crime drama, think: trailer park boys meets the wire. In all seriousness, it is great television.

extremely dated but the original James at 15 pilot / movie is still somewhat watchable. Remember its 1977 for crhistsakes. In the day it was revolutionary, way way ahead of its time. The actual series is pretty hard to watch but parts are just priceless. Uncle buyin james a ho for his 16th birthday; gohnarea from the sweedish exchange student in the pre-aids days, Mellisa sue anderson from little house on the parrie wanting to fuck in HS...all awsome win for its time.
"Can't you see..."
