Enough with the crap cameras at concerts
I know it's something that I'm just going to have accept and live with, but this is just getting stupid. Every show I go to... there's 25 jamokes standing in front with their cameras going the whole time.
^^^ Band of Horses @ Sasquatch... this is typical.

I see a LOT of music and it astounds me how people watch an entire show through the viewfinder of their iPhone.
I once was surrounded by cell phone screens to the point that it was like a bad tv commercial or something. The clincher is that I've never, ever once, not even for a second or two, seen any hand held footage that didn't totally suck.

Almost as bad as going to wedding. Everyone thinks they're David Bailey.

^^if you shout the wrong words, why does not knowing any of them matter???
I always seem to end up next to clapping guy. fucking clapping the whole show. maybe they want to be a quasi percussionist, but fuck me is that annoying. I go to lots of shows, and it has become a running joke with my friends.

I thought he shot Princess Diana's wedding. Guess I was wrong.
David Bailey used to be the man in the UK in the '60s, 70s & 80s, you'd see him in every edition of National Geographic advertising an Olympus (often the awesome Trip 35). I just looked up his website, seems the old man found photoshop.

I, like Ripz, take pics with my crappy camera because I like concerts and I like to take photos and there's no way I'm taking my DSLR into a mosh pit.
Edit: I was pretty pleased to get this shot from the pit in Glasgow the day Shane died. Notice the other crappy cameras going for different angles.

I do it because I'm really fucking drunk and it seems like a great idea. Even though I know damn well that any video I take with my shitty camera at a show is going to have audio that sounds like static/flatulence/dying giraffes and nothing like music... I go and record video anyway because I'm an asshole.

I always feel compelled to swear loudly and horribly the moment I see anyone shooting video. It's like a form of Tourettes.

Not just at concerts, everywhere. In this day of social media and cheap digital cameras, people feel compelled to record their entire life it seems. I like taking traveling, nature or sports action photos, but when it consumes your time at the event, you're definitely missing the point.
It's like the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, if you record the event, it changes the experience.Education must be the answer, we've tried ignorance and it doesn't work!
