North Platte River, Wyoming 5-23-10...
Edit... I forgot to add the soundtrack for this TR.
I figure that since we were catching fat healthy rainbows that came out of the lake (as close as Wyoming gets to actual steelhead), this song fits:
I had one of the best fly fishing days of my life yesterday. Hit the North Platte River in Central Wyoming... specific location is classified.
All I can say is... it was AWESOME. We caught fish after fish that were very impressive. We took pictures of the first few we were catching, then realized that the next fish and the next fish, etc. were just as amazing. After a while we just stopped getting the camera out.
We went out in two boats; me, my uncle and two of his friends.
Pictures say it all. Enjoy!
Flows are a little high in this particular stretch of river. Without boats fishing would have been tough.
My uncle's friend with a nice hook up:
Here fishy fishy fishy...
In the boat!
Some of my fish:
Even caught a sucker goofing around at lunch!
Boats were a bit muddy from the drive out.
Lunch stop
A few more fish:
one of the "little guys"
I also caught a nice cutty
I kinda like this place...

The water does look high for that stretch! Some great fish in there.

Sounds like it is going to stay that high for a while. It's good though, because the tanks are filling up.
I just saw a press release that they are going to raise up the release from Pathfinder to Alcova (you know what section I am talking about...) to 1,000 cfs."Have fun, get a flyrod, and give the worm dunkers the finger when you start double hauling." ~Lumpy
