Wolf Creek 6-Hour Enduro DH vs Ely Enduro
So I'm completely torn over which race to do June 12-13 weekend. A bunch of guys are heading up to Ashland for the 12-mile Super D that same weekend, but that's too big a trip for me to pull off that weekend, gotta stay closer to home. Anyone ever ridden Ely? Good trails/worth it?
The Ely, NV race is Fears, Tears and Beers. You pedal to the top of 3 or 5 timed downhill sections. Which is a LOT of pedaling (3500' vert for Sport, 5400' vert for Expert). But it sounds really freaking cool. Mark Weir did a writeup about it in Decline a couple years ago and I've wanted to try it ever since. Registration is only $40.

The Wolf Creek Utah race is the 6-Hour Enduro DH, which I did last fall (inaugural year). It's a 6-hour race, alternating between 2 courses, lift-accessed - most runs in the least amount of time (under 6 hours) wins. I'd love to support it here in Utah but they raised registration fees to $120 this year! Ouch. Last year we only had about 22 racers so I understand why they raised the price, but it's hard to justify that kind of expense for a race entry fee.

So I need some help deciding! What would you guys do? Anyone planning on doing one or the other?I'm so hardcore, I'm gnarcore.

No help here, I'm just bummed about the Wolf Creek race. With the earlier date and big new entry fee I am definitely out.

The Ely race is a ton of fun. a LOT of pedaling, though, as you mentioned. But the vibe is super low key, you race THROUGH the casino, and there is a lot of beer to be had. The organizers are good people, and it is just a very good scene overall. There are some other great trails in the area, too.
