I am moving into Boulder next week. I just had to find a place. PM me if you want a list of Craigslist links (5 days old) for 1-2 bedroom places in the neighborhood near where you work. I ended up around 17th & Pearl. Good luck with the move!

check for sublets in the local paper/cl when you get here. I'm sorry I can't offer you a place to crash because I have family staying here through our wedding later this month.

Yeah, wish I could offer a place but my house is full. But if you get in a real emergency, I surely can offer a couch for a night or two.
But really, now is the time it should be easy to find places. But maybe they are not on craigslist? Have you checked the Colorado Daily (sort of a CU paper)? Also, have you checked out Housing Helpers? I rented my first place in Boulder through them."fuck off you asshat gaper shit for brains fucktard wanker." - Jesus Christ

I saw a sign on a place near 17th and Alpine. It was kinda expensive, but that's a good location. Maybe someone can swing by and get you the number.

Danno- haven't checked those places but I will now. Not in a crunch yet, have two weeks housing through the hospital. I think it'll be much easier once I get to town.

was walking around the mapleton hill area and saw a place for rent. They had a flyer with lots of places available in downtown-ish area. http://www.rent-boulder.com/rentals/

Lake Placid to Boulder
1,900 miles
37 Total Hours
33 Hours Driving
2 naps of 2 hours
Oh yeah. My dog got car sick and puked in the center console on my wallet.
So I slept in a rest area in Ohio for a bit, woke up at midnight and got under way again. Just after I pull out of the rest away I can see a car coming up behind me with their lights off. I remembered an old urban legend about gangs driving around with no lights on, killing people that flashed their lights in response. The car that passed me was totally pimped out. Old impala painted a dark metallic green, lowered, rollin on dubs with spinners. I kinda chuckled to myself remembering the legend. A few miles down the road I start hearing this weird banging on my car, sounds like its coming from underneath the front end. It reminded me of the banging sound when a trunk bike rack strap comes off and the metal clasp starts berating your car. I think "Sonofabitch" and start to pull over.I slow down and come to a stop... on an empty highway... at 1am... hop out with the handy 4-D cell maglight I keep next to my seat (multiple uses).. and start checking things over. I can't find anything... except that at the edge of the range of my headlights is the whip with a big black dude dressed in a oversized white T and baggy jeans kneeling next to the back of the car and checking me out. I don't think they had car troubles, they weren't working on it or opening the hood... they were staring rather intently at me. I didn't stick around, I gave up my inspection, put the pedal to the metal (as well as a 97 Grand Cherokee pulling a trailer can) and GTFO. Never heard that banging sound again...
That being the best story of the trip makes it fairly successful.

Ah, finally getting settled in. Found a place on 3rd about 3 blocks from the hospital. Back yard opens up to Mt Sanitas. I don't really think that I could've found a better place.
If anyone wants to get together, PM me for my number. I've got loads of free time and not much to do but explore.

Welcome! Happy to grab lunch sometime, do a quick Poorman's loop from downtown, or a run up Sanitas (when my back gets better, jacked it up 10 days ago and running is still out).
Poorman's is a ~1 hr bike loop, suited to mt bikes or cross bikes, climbs steadily the whole way and then blasts back down. A great quick workout spin.Last edited by Danno; 06-11-2010 at 03:38 PM.

Moving to Boulder as well. Just accepted a new job and start July 12th. XtrPickels - how did you find your place? Feel like I am not finding much over the internet.
Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn.

MS-Craigslist, actually. It was a completely non-descriptive listing but in a location awesomely close to work. Met with the guy when I finally got here and it worked out really well.
Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out. Whats the new position?
BJ- Why ya headin out?
In other news, anyone want to check out the Lyons outdoor games this saturday. I just came across it on leelikesbikes

Figured I'd just piggyback this thread instead of starting another........
The gf just accepted a position at CU. Starts Aug16th. I'm going back to school and have classes in Schlongmont 4 days/week, so we're picking up and moving to the region ASAP. I'll miss it up here but ready for a change and some more direction in life.
Look forward to meeting some of you mags. Don't really know anyone down there so will definitely be looking to meet up for some bike rides, beers, etc. I need someone to show me around the Ned trails sometime.
We are driving down tomorrow and gonna check out Lyons on the way. Any advice on living there? I think I'd love it. Then we'll check out some areas in Boulder.

Lyons sucks . Too many trailer parks and marijuana shops but 2 of our 3 liquor stores are drive-thru's. It's managed to keep the Boulder yuppies at bay for longer than most of the towns around here. Easy commute to Longmont and Boulder. PM me with any questions you've got about town.

There's no good biking around Lyons, you don't want to live there.
(I say that after I knocked out a 18-miler this morning and I plan to head back there tomorrow for another 10-12 miles of super sweet singletrack)

Lyons is a great place to be, especially for a mt biker and especially if you have to commute to Longmont. The biggest problem with Lyons is that it adds ~30 minutes to getting to resort skiing as compared to Boulder.
