Here's another vid regarding a JH TU project. There is not much in the way of visuals but for those that live in the area, it might be of interest....and more importantly, it is of significant importance. I have found myself on opposing sides of TU in some instances but this one I am running along side.

You'd be amazed how many people around here are basically unaware of the place and the reason is access. The canyon is mostly land locked by roadless farmfields. There are no paved roads along it. Except for some rough farm roads and one long dead end gravel road, you can't even see the canyon from a road. Along the canyon, two public roads go to the edge of the water, the rest confront you with steep 400-700 foot slopes laced with unseen cliff-outs.There are virtually no established trails to descend upon. I can think of four. The north facing slope is a dense subalpine forest choked with thickets and the south facing slope is a sagebrush desert filled with rattlers. They are abundant in the river bottom as well, do NOT bring a dog or children. They can be very hard to hear near the rapids, so if being within 5-10 feet of rattlers freaks you out.... In general, though, the canyon walls and the river bottom are rough and littered with loose, unstable rocks and those are more likely to take out a hiker than a rattlesnake. It's the sort of place where you walk slowly and you don't try to fish and move at the same time but its totally doable for folks who hike bc. I sell float trips at work and I pretty much guarantee people that they will get their money's worth in this canyon or the Bear Gulch canyon on the HF, even if the fishing is slow(and its usually pretty good). Most of Bear Gulch below the boat slide is simply inaccessible and unwadable on foot(deep water, too many cliffs) so don't bother.

It is a hell of a stretch to get into! I have to admit the reasons ND stated keep me from wading the Canyon execpt once every couple years. I Wade at the top of the plunge on a friends land but getting down there in the depths is a bitch. Getting back out... Floating it is about as good as it gets but getting the rigs and gear down is an adventure in itself.

said area and access was my favorite place to fish when I lived in IF, spent a lot of dark hikes dodging rattlers. Kind of dumb now that I think about it.
But the fish are there and in numbers.

Thanks for the video. I'm moving over to the Teton Valley from Lander (guiding for an outfitter in Jackson). So, I need to do my part in getting involved in these important local issues.

There are plenty of issues around here! People create issues just to have more issues are these parts. Welcome to the area!
