cougar on trail in Squamish - report?

was riding in group of three on the plunge and saw an adult cougar. it was running beside me/away from me off to the side of the trail and when I stopped it kept running down the hill and away from me (thank god).

do I need to report this to anyone? I told the guy at the bike shop when I returned my rental stumpjumper and he didn't care. I know it's Squamish and cougars there are like pigeons in the city. Just wouldnt want to later read about an attack and be like shit should I have told someone.
