What is the stiffest, burliest, baddest ski ever?

IMO the 194 Squads are stiffer all around than the Titan Pros. They certainly feel stiffer underfoot.

Yea, but width makes a huge difference in how something skis.

i have owned 245 FFF and skied 265 FFF

the fiberglass skis i mentioned own the FFF 265, and even my old 190 275 FAT and 200 260 FFL in a way that is not even funny.

^^^ I agree with Marshal on this. My 200 cm 275 Race Flex FGS were way burlier than my 194 Squads. One of the funniest things I have ever seen was LB taking those FGS into the half pipe. They wouldnt follow the transition, it was more like he was just hitting a wall

But there is one other ski that I felt was on par with those iggys, thefirst generation M103s. Those things were scary.

The reason they're scarey is because they're so stable that you don't realise how insanely fast you are going until it's too late. m103s are like twin lead 50hp vacuum cleaners. It's not that they're super demanding, just that they're really easy to get going dumb-fast on.

Me - no. That's why I don't have any of the crazy stiff skis any more.

I think the stiffest ones I have now are Black Diamond Zealots, the green rockered ones. They hand-flex quite stiff, but they don't ski like planks -- they're actually really versatile and easy to control. The softer-hand-flexing Volkl Explosivs require more input to ski.

For a regular day, no. If I were going to do chutes that didn't permit much in the way of turns, yes.

Sure, I'd take out just about any of the skis mentioned that I haven't tried before. Why not? I like trying new skis, and it's fun getting your ass kicked by a new ski. But no, today I probably wouldn't bother taking out any of the skis that have already kicked my ass before, because it's not as fun if it's not a new experience.

I will have to concur, I have hand flexed those bad boys and DAMN, HOLLY stiffness batman, any porn starlet would LOVE that kind of stiffness in her co-star.

On a more earthly, normal skier level, the first generation Stockli DP Pro's were akin to flexing a 2x4. My 198's are 8 years old, have seen there fair share of days on the snow and are STILL the stiffest skis (besides Tyrones) I have flexed. The Schmidts have never had anything close in the stiffness scale to these.

FTW. i have two pairs (well one and a half since one ski now has shot glasses glued to it) of bent orange m-103s in my garage, i also have a pair of blizzard titan kreitler pro models (08 i think, the black and red ones) that i used as an every day ski last year and part of this. I have no problem jamming any of those skis into a pretty tight turn even without side cut.

Perhaps with the exception of my old 225 red sled dh skis, the bluehouse shoots are the stiffest ski i've ever been on. Hard to compare, since it's been nearly 20 yrs since i've been on the red sleds, and the length vs girth makes it tough to compare too. My mantra has always been 'the stiffer and straighter the better'. The shoots are the first ski i've ever been on where i thought 'hmm, this may have been a mistake'.

i have not been on any of the super stiff iggys.

when i was in high school i went to a demo day at stratton with one of my old race coaches. i demod a pair of K2 VO Slaloms, i thought they were alright, a bit stiff on the finish and would take off on you if you werent careful.

brought them back and some short stocky bald guy asked me what i thought, i said they had a little too much tail, some shit like that, but basically that i didnt like them. my coach is chuckling at me, no idea why.

we walk away and he tells me 'you just told phil mahre his skis suck'

Owned a pair of 1960's Kniessl White Star DH's 224cms,... Fk'n Rail Road Ties they were.
Sectioned the Roche Cup DH on them in '67',...wasn't pretty! No sense even thinking about turning them until U were over 50. That's Mph not kph! Worked and skied 140 days a winter on 215 Hart GS's in the late '60's that were burly stiff and had 3" of camber.
Kant go out and play on the stiffy's of today tho. 2 tough on the Knees!

Stiffest most user-unfriendly thing I've ever been on. There were some race stock versions that were even more off-the-chart beefy that were truly stupid. I guess the Mahres dug 'em, but that was back in the day when you turned with only one foot touching the ground.

When I was 15 or 16 I was going to a DH race at Whiteface... since my home mountain only had like 600' of vert and I was too poor to travel much or to pay for more than 1 dh race every year or 2, I didn't have my own pair of DH boards. So my father went out and found some DH skis for me to borrow from some guy. 220 cm fischer dh boards with atomic super riser plates mounted on them. I barely weighed over 100 lbs at this point. Holy christ that was a scary weekend. Just had to go mach retarded to make the damn things turn.

I have a pair of VIRGIN Race stock 204 VO's R serial number 24.8 rave flex. One of the skis is still in the factory plastic and hasn't been touched by hands out of the K2 factory since 1985. I have its brother too, a matching pair of GS Electra's in a 207.



Bindings are on, just for show.

I also had a pair of EIS's that were eventually passed along to another collector.
