    Where to camp in/around Durango??

I'm heading to Durango as part of a short road trip. Planning to ride bikes and chill, was hoping the collective had some advice on good camping spots in or around Durango as I've never been.

I don't care if it's pay or primitive.

As a corollary, what xc trails shoud we hit up while we're there?

There isn't much great camping real close to Dgo, and the high country camping isn't open. Junction Creek CG is fairly close (Natl Forest pay), near the Colorado Trail start. So a good option for riding. Lightner Creek CG is a private cg that is near the Dry Fork TH so it too is a good option. Lots of motels in town, too.

Check out the lower end of Hermosa Creek. There is a FS campground and Hermosa and Jones creek trailheads are close. Both are relatively dry until you climb to around the 8,000ish elevation. The in town rides are also in superb shape. Have fun.

I've spent the night in a little parking area along Junction Creek Rd a couple of times when we were passing through Durango on the way to the Chicago Basin. It's nothing special, but it is free and only a few minutes outside of town. Plus the sound of the creek running is nice to help you fall asleep. Might be a good place to spend a night while you figure out where to get set up.
