40 seems low even at semi cama rates, it's a 24 hr journey. I'd say 250 range. If you want to try and go cheap get a bus to Mendoza and find a local bus to marlague or LL

Consider flying to San Rafael and saving a day of travel.

Sorry, should have specified. The price I heard was $40USD, not pesos.

The direct bus is 16 hours, which looks like the faster and cheapest way to get there. All of the buses to Mendoza and San Rafael are similarly priced.

And flying to San Rafael would make my plane ticket price double.

I know you were talking in dollars, once you get to buenos aires get yourself to retiro and look at the prices. They usually are cheaper, andesmar isn't the greatest either. There is no need to book far in advance, the day before or of is usually fine. You could always go on the illegal busses, usually more than half the price.

Haven't decide on which destination for late August/early September. I've wanted to check out Kiwiland since the early 80s (fuck I'm old or I was real young).

I'd like to repeat last year trip...I have to retake the pics I did...I'll try not to get my gear stolen from a fake cab from retiro in BA.

So it was Santiago, Los Penintentes, Mendoza, Las Lenas to Buenos Aires.

There is also a few others places I'd like to revisit, it all depends of the time I have and take.

So it will be trip #1 to Kiwiland or trip #4 to the Andes.

If anyone is coming to Las Leñas from the States in the next few weeks, we have a 10lb box of stickers and other schwag that we need brought down. It is for a really good cause.

Please PM if you can help us out. Gracias!

I'll rent my apartment in Farellones from July 10th to 17th for US$2,500. It's fully equipped for 6

You know it's for real when an Argentine refers to it as the A-Factor, jaja!

Yeah, for sure! Actually I'm really tired of the A factor. We are far away from the change we need.

I predict Argentina wins the World Cup by showing excellent team work, Maradona runs to the Obelisco naked, and the country gets on the right track.

It's been raining and snowing hard in Bariloche the last few days. Lots more in the forecast. A nice base is forming, especially for June!

    Marte Update

Can someone fill me in on the status of the Marte these days. The LL website offers nothing but a mysterious dash.

Closed to keep the locals from killing themselves on early season rocks? Broken?
    Running?

If you click on estado de pista, it says Marte ABIERTO.
