Snowbird site has been updated and says no estimated time for opening lifts. They will update every two hours or as new info comes in. Could be a no go today. Extensive bombing is going on, it is shaking the Iron Blossam.

Any additional reports on superior and the Cliff?

To clarify, the slide did not hit the Cliff, but the Superior Lot is buried and there are a couple of cars in the rubble.

I'm sitting at work getting calls on every lap from my wife at Snowbasin. All lifts open excluding strawberry. No gates open to anything steep.

Her first run was on an untouched slope with drifts of snow "over my head". One turn into a blue bowl that was untouched and the whole thing whoomped and cracks shot across the minor ridge, scared the hell out of her as she straightlined it out.

I'm heading out tomorrow, hopefully it stays cold!

edit - strawberry hadn't opened by the time she left at 11:30.

Cool I met you guys on the Tram day before yesterday, didn't think to ask for change. I was wearing a green helmet and carrying RC112s. I remarked on your nice timing, you were headed to mineral I believe and we were going to hanging bowl. Again, nice timing!

So the vis is pretty bad but it looks like the firehouse may have been grazed and there is one car upside down in the debris that was left in the Superior lot. Debris hit the bypass road and also took out the bus stop on the east side.

Official word is Chickadee only today but Wilbere is spinning now and I've heard rumors of Peruvian today so we wait...

I'm pissed Sundance closed on Sunday. That would have been perfect today. At least you have elbow room skiing still open up there. Mine's toast for the year and now back to racing the masses for lines...

Just to be clear. I highly doubt the parking lot was open. A slide hit a full lot in the 80s and almost killed a number of people. They shut that lot early when avy danger is high.

Probably just a few employee cars that were left from yesterday. Poor fuckers.

    WOW

What a way to finish the season, not as good as last year but we will take it. Gonna wait to tomorrow, not as if I have a choice, please stay cloudy!!!

Who was the boner asking how there can be 500" in the Cottonwoods and only 200" at Loveland" ... pretty simple, God approves of polygamy!!

Bummer, I'm still hearing it might open at some point though.

And yeah, the lot was closed and there was only one straggler car in there that no-one claimed yesterday. I hear it's still got dealer reg too.

Had that conversation with a couple on the chair last Thursday. Every year my stashes become less and less secret. Of course I've become fatter, slower and lazy with time....which of course I blame on wider skis.

At any rate, I'll be wasting a lot of potential study time this week looking for pictures from this shit. I hope you all have an outstanding time.

Because Snowbird is in the Wasatch and Colorado is a joke. Study hard dipshit.

    from the bird site:
Due to weather conditions and avalanche control work, the only open lift is Chickadee. The rest of our lifts and terrain will remain closed for the day.
Perhaps you'd be more comfortable on epicski or Paula's Ski Lovers, AltaNancy.

Alta will not be opening for skiing today, 4/6/10, but will be open at 915 wednesday morning according to website/snowphone.
7-13ish today during the day, tomorrow will be the sickter.

I bet it is an epic shit-show at the bottom of LCC today even with all the updates from the resorts saying nothing but Chickadee is opening in LCC. I would be riding the Canyons if I could ride...looks like they are reporting almost as much snow as the Cottonwoods.

    Tomorrow should be epic, enjoy!

Also, big ups to dynodonkeyaltabird for starting this thread. Man, he is cool.
