Good WWII South Pacific Films.
Since a lot of us seemed to be hyped up with the new The Pacific series, I started thinking about other good old and new war movies set in the same environment. I remember as a kid seeing so many on tv growing up, but now the titles are slipping my mind. So, I figure why not start a thread to make a compilation of South Pacific WWII movies and TV series that have aired through the years.
The Basics:
Tora! Tora! Tora!
The Battle of Midway
Bridge Over the River Kwai
PT 109
Baa Baa Black Sheep.
Hell in the Pacific.

Anyone seen "The Marine's Marine" about Chesty Puller?
I've heard its good, but haven't seen it.
The man makes good subject matter im sure.

Thin Red Line sucked. Such a disappointment.
Looks like we've gone to the entire Pacific Theatre, not necessarily South Pacific. A lot of my favorites have already been mentioned but I'll add:
Destination Tokyo
Flying TigersPutting the "core" in corporate, one turn at a time.

Don't think it's considered south Pac, but From Here To Eternity is a great WW II Pacific theatre flick with a whos who cast.

I had no preconceived notions about what TRL was about but I had high hopes given the subject matter. Unfortunately the film was too long and too dull and therefore, sucked.

Operation Petticoat was awesome
I thought TRL had some great action scenes and incredible cinematography. It wasn't the best film ever, but I don't hate like a lot of people do. I didn't read the book though.Originally Posted by blurred

Not a Pacific war film, but the scene in Jaws where Robert Shaw describes the sinking of the USS Indianapolis and the shark attacks that followed was a truly classic scene. Best scene in the film, IMO...
