A/T Anonymous: A Tale of a Telemarker Turned A/T Skier

There's a similar thread in the archives, but since I found a nicer version of this brilliant piece on Vimeo, I figured I'd start a new thread. Enjoy, if you haven't already:

    Great video.

seems like my life this year as I'm making the slow transition to the AT world.
I love to tele and also see the aggressive ability of hard charging with the AT setup.

    Hah! I'm using that.

I'm a recent Darkside convert as well.

    Now I'm just "a skier."

I watch that vid once a year or so for kicks.

Nice video. Even I enjoyed it: Just about all of my friends, including the enthusiasts who taught me to telemark, have switched. Inertia, stubbornness, stupidity, whatever: I stick with it....

Its good he went alpine....'cause he wasn't a good telemarketer. Anyone can ski flat corn, but falling out of the blue in it. Fuck! I'd hate to see him in moguls, that would of been a shit-show. Now he can just smear-turn.

Stan Wagon? Founder of Ultrarunning mag? I ran into to you in the 1990's on a ski tour. I was on tele gear. Nice to see a maggot who is older than I am.

That video is always fun to watch. Classic.

The ski touring group was 100% tele 6 years ago. Now we're 30% tele, 70% AT. Since my switch to AT, I've doubled my touring days per season. Just sayin' Still got the tele gear for low angle days.

Yes, Big Steve, I am he. Ultrarunning mag is almost 30 years old now -- I do ultra skiing: 100-miles once, and a nice 90-km race every spring (coming up in 2 days). So far this year: about 100 days skate-skiing, 20 days on light touring gear, and 1 day last week telemarking at Beaver Creek on a free ticket (pretty fun). All the skating helped my balance! I'll still get out and flail a bit in May/June on the steeps out here in Colo.

I know: If I really like light gear so much I should switch to AT. Someday when I get really old....
