I vote no straw. Straws are just not a sustainable practice. Further, the plasticizers used in production do not bond well and can be ingested. Results can be bad.

Dookey - I'll be camping. No money to spare for me.

Think I'll be in bounds on Thurs. Anyone else going to be around? Or should I tour. It looks pretty warm over night on Wed...

I have the "Dude" costume all ready for wear and riding on Saturday...will be out there with hair down, shaggy beard, shades, in a robe and boxer shorts with a white Russian in hand (or both) (no straw)

Ginny Lakes bc (or Dana Plat) on Friday...not so sure about Sunday...

I am bringing the color port-o-bar with Green-nades, Margie Blues, Hurricanes, Blood-Mojitos, White Russians, Jager-Absenthe bombs...I have six different sizes of straws with matching umbrellas

Car camping all weekend...but will be spending some time at my favorite clothing optional Whitmore hot tub with any of the ladies who dare to bare with the Dude and myself...

I'm going to work on convincing my wife that it's a good idea for me to go solo and leave her and the munchkin home alone - again. Recon for our late-June / early-July trip...

Bad news. As vets posted, the scenic loop is still buried except for a couple turnouts right by the corner at hwy 395. It seems the USFS also went apeshit with "no overnight camping" signs at the geothermal site this past week. Not sure if something went down recently, or they're just reinforcing old policy but either way that one's not gonna work.

I have a nice group sized campsite in mind out by the hot springs, but I'm not posting directions publicly. Plus it's kinda far for most people's taste anyways.

    Any suggestions?

You got some big shoes to fill, you are following the debauchery kings.

I doubt I will be touring, and I have pairs of 99 and 112mm underfoot skins if they are of any help. I probably won't hit town until Friday night, or possibly Saturday early depending when I get out of work.

Wow, those are some fat skins ... bit too large for what I need.

I'll hit town on Friday night.

we've got a lot to live up to.

I ran into the Colorado/Summit County Telemark Tips crew at A-Basin on 5/8 and those folks knew how to party...they had a full bar set up on the beach, shot ski flying at 10 a.m. and never less than 30 folks tipping something alcoholic back into their gullet.

I'm to cheap for a bring a friend lift ticket, unless there are going to be 0n3p demo's.

    Thinking Basin Mountain on Thursday
Something around N/S Lake on Friday. Would like to do Hurd, but not if I'm solo.
Maybe something on the Crest or Tioga on Saturday and/or Sunday. Would also do Bloody again if someone has a 4x4. I'm not hiking from the bottom again.
Let me know if you want to join me or if you are looking for someone to join you on a backcountry trip.

Question Is it gonna be Blowing?

I notice the forecasts for the Bay Area are showing some Windy weather headed down
Do Y'all think it's likely to affect us at Mammoth?

I was at Mammy last year when almost the whole Mtn was closed down by wind. Some of the lifts were running, but none of the ones that are open now.

So, if we do get skunked by wind, whaddawedo?
Can we head to June, or did it close long ago?
Head to the bc? Beeper practice? Drunkenness? Nudie Hot-tubbin'?

aargh. hey BSS is there at least enough melted out ground for cars? I'm okay with "snow camping" but I doubt most others are.

And the camp under Sherwins is still under snow too?

Looks like there really isn't an option other than hot springs ...

There's def. enough space for cars and trucks, tents, etc. out near the end of the scenic loop. It's pretty close to the road though. Snow was mostly all melted off out near sherwins, but really muddy everywhere. Is anybody nearby that could go poke around out there?

Skiing the mountain Thursday... going on a "Mantra" hunt on the sunny side of Lincoln... after that plans are open, although we will probably Friday BC in the Mammoth area.

    Bodhi,

Send me an email. Mine to you bounced.

I'm probly up for Ginny Lakes Friday. Let me know.

We'll be rolling in sometime late on Thursday and departing on Monday.

Staying in same complex as asandygal's condo. I'm in unit E-8 with Turx, Cinders and a few non-maggot friends.

spoke to a guy @ CalTrans today who says 108 is punched through all the way over the pass, but they have some work to do widening it and doing road & guardrail repairs, cleaning drains, etc - estimated Friday opening - might help some of those going to and from the mini

They've now plowed 120 all the way to Tioga Pass. Now they need to widen it before they can open. Fingers crossed it is finished by Thursday evening when I want to go through. At least we know we can drive up there this weekend to get some lines.

Has anyone been on the mountain the last few days?

I'm wondering if the new snow they got was able to bond up, or if it was just dust on crust.

Just dust-on-crust? Dude, I'll take that. It can be loads of fun.
Better than slush on mank, or whatever that super sticky springtime stuff is that messes with the Corning.

If the forecasts hold true, this will be the coldest (48?) Spring Mini I've been to.

Will be up starting tomorrow night, and since a lot of you are staying in our complex (Mountain Shadows... which is definitely stumbling distance from Robertos)... we wanted to extend the invite to all the "chilly campers" to come over and enjoy our jacuzzis/showers with us.

Lego and Divegirl are staying with us Friday and Saturday night too... so if any of you are interested in coming over to visit, feel free. I don't know if the bb-ques are out yet (I will know tomorrow night, once I get home), but we can always set up a temporary grill outside Saturday night, if you are interested in grilling that night, or any night, for a mini-gathering. We will definitely be visiting everyone else staying in our neighborhood !

If you were around last year, hopefully you remember where we are... if not, call out to me on the hill or ask around!
