Sent this pillow line today, footy will appear in the next TGR flick. Last year was miserable for nordic around here but this year we have a decent early base. Anybody getting out?

First full family ski at the local trails today. We've all been up enjoying them for the last week. Very nice early season conditions. Wife picked up new classics, new classic and skate kit for the 9yo. New snow and dropping temps for the next week has the hard blue coming out tomorrow.

Really hope we can celebrate the Birki in early Feb this season.

I've been getting out. We had a couple of storms and minus some thinness in the trees it's skiing great! I'll get some photos next time.

BC are you figuring to come down to the US to participate in the Birkie or do you celebrate a different way?

I barely got out last year. Looking forward to more this winter. We’re planning to do some XC in YNP later this week.

We have usually have a local Birkie loppet in early Feb. A couple dozen km, followed with beer, glogg and a swedish meatball lunch. Haven't been to a proper Birkie since '95 in Edmonton. Would like to revisit, but I don't think those travels are in the cards this year.

Got out on a local golf course a couple of times recently. Stayed off the greens but apparently skied over a tee-box they recently sodded. Buddy chased me back to my car to read the riot act. Ask permission or beg forgiveness? Yah, sorry.

With the Winter Olympics coming up in just six weeks (hopefully), here's something to get you fired up: Jessie Diggins and Kikkan Randall winning the first ever gold medal in nordic for the USA in 2018.

And here's a fun photo of the legendary Bill Koch, the only other person to win a US olympic medal in a nordic event (silver in 1976).

Anyone who thinks Nordic is ghey needs to watch this video. I have zero idea what these (French ?) people are saying, all I know is this dude is doing park tricks, like a 540, ON SKATE SKIS. Totally not ghey.

That's awesome! The blow up doll and baguette... and the skiing was great. Not so sure about the cultural appropriation by the French using an English title and then only speaking French.

There's endless nordic potential down here in Townsend......I used to do a bunch of nordic grooming. Next year I will be grooming the Big Belts for my own personal use nordic skating...........gotta go work a bunch first, to spend 20k on the required internal combustion engine.....and associated periphenalia.

    going nordic = going ghay?

The Birkiebeiner is in a few weeks. Hotels in the Hayward area, plus about a 50 mile radius, are all full. If anyone needs camping space my island is available. Ice is nice and thick so you can drive your Sprinter van right across the lake to it. Or XC across and pitch a tent. PM if interested.

I can't bring myself to do the tights thing, but I have a set of classic and skate Salomon that are DYING to get out. The outline of my hog - notsomuch.

@Harry - my alpine pass is blacked out for the weekend here in MN, so it might be a good weekend to make a pilgrimage across the cheddar curtain?

Checking in from pass Creek in the lost rivers. Distinct lack of crowds, utter silence. Full sun. Amazing.

Fyi craters of the moon national monument grooms the entire road system and is free, free to stay, heated bathrooms visitors center, natural hot springs a few min away. Surreal landscape. All around- fkna!

Fucking Olympics has me back at it! Second time in three days today, Woodstock Nordic, VT. It’s been four years since I’ve been out, huh. Forgot how hard it is and how much I love it. Felt much better today, stronger push off and way better glide. V2 is starting to feel easy and natural. My legs are smoked in the best possible way. Cold weather aerobic activity really pumps endorphins, mix that with THC.

Add Fugazi in your earbuds and hope you pass out before your heart explodes. Ask me how I know…
