I'll add my name to the list of people who thought the ads were a ridiculous demonstration of poor judgment.
Nice job, Oakley. Way to step on your own dick.Last edited by BenWA; 02-07-2010 at 07:36 PM.

TGR - love it
Oakley products - some of their optics rock
The Oakley ad campaign is asinine, they should feel embarassed. Who pitched this ad? Who approved this pile of shit?
The biggest question I have about this whole dealio is that you (TGR420) state: "We id [sic] not see the creative prior to the campaign ... ", do you guys typically accept ad copy without viewing it first? In search of the elusive artic powder weasel ...

Maybe you guys could get together and write a letter to Oakley explaining how their ad campaign deeply hurt all your feelings.
Where'd you get your Skis, the toilet store?

NYC has too many billboards. Fortunately, they're illegal here. just got back from skiing, i'll take care of that other thing later.
Thanks for caring.
the ads are running now, at least the eero ettala
his is the least annoying, it only mentions a bong.
i'm still not certain why the athlete would be ok with this one

I just want to point out that all the people complaining about NSFW ads are using such words a shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker and tits in thier posts...just an observation.
As for the ads, I don'see or hear them, so I have no idea was the ruckus is about.
Carry on!
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot

Skipped to the end after reading the first two pages...
Why the fuck are you guys looking at TGR at work? Shouldn't you be...WORKING? Does your compooter have a volume control? Are you that redundant at your place of employment that you have time to fuck off on the intraweb? Fuck...

posting in this thread just to demonstrate my contempt for anyone who thinks that audio that plays on mouseover is a good idea.

There are ads on TGR? Seriously, just get adblock plus....
But yes, lame ads are lame.

it's not just about work. happened to me at the airport yesterday. it happens when my kids are looking at their pictures. it's not just about the nsfw either, it's annoying to say the least when you're already listening to music or watching a movie.
and as far as work. I don't know TGR's traffic patterns but across virtually all the sites whose stats i monitor, monday morning between about 9 am and 1 pm is the busiest period week in week out. I wonder why that is.
And yes computers do have volume control. That's irrelevant, however.

any sort of auto-playing audio in an ad is beyond retarded

Ads were mildly annoying whenever I mistakenly moused over, but not a habitual problem, as it sounds for some, my laptop is my work comp. and is always muted when it matters for just such a reason. Pretty bad ad campaign though. Thanks to the thread for getting me to 1)try Chrome and like it and; 2)install adblocker so that I may never view another Oakley ad. I have goggle and eyewear dollars to spend this year, and now I will continue to spend it with...Smith. Well played.
