Ok, pre order done. I was wondering what everyone is thinking of mounting these with and why? I am leaning towards Marker tour FT12...thoughts?

I'm going with the FKS 185 I've got lying around, but I'm going to use my pair as daily drivers here in Scandinavia, so they're in for some serious and thorough action.

Why the Tour? Wan't to save weight? Why not go for Dynafit? I wouldn't feel that safe railing turns on the 112's with a lightweight Marker touring binding. The Duke would make me feel alot safer, and it would still be a "light" setup compared to regular skis with touring bindings...

As far as I understand it, anything produced within Canadian/American/Mexican borders is exempt from import duty under NAFTA. Ask for shipping by US Postal and you shouldn't get any sort of brokerage fees like you pay with UPS......I think.

I think that if you're planning for 50/50 touring and resort, the FT12 would be a great option. (How much do you weigh?)

If you're spending more time in the resort, the new Baron (13-Din) or Duke would be good options as well.

All these bindings have the same hole-pattern. So if you find that the FT12 are not burly enough for you, it would be very easy to swap them for Dukes at a later day.

I'm leaning toward mounting my Wailer 112s with Marker Tour 12s. I spent a few days on that binding last season and was pretty impressed. It's lighter than the Fritschi and skis WAY better. Obviously it isn't as burly as the Duke or as light as the FT12 but it strikes a nice balance for 50/50 resort/bc.

I'm a light guy and rarely break bindings so I don't need the added burl of a Duke. Tour 12 is also significantly less expensive than the FT12.

Probably mounting mine with the highest-DIN Tyrolia or Look demos I can find, to facilitate lending to the lucky few.

Either that, or Tyrolia d10 FF+17 or Look PX14.

Yo, Dad, I've found the sp 130 Tyrolia demo to work fine for me. That's only a 13 din, but they hold fine for me at my recommended 9 on the din chart, which is where I feel like they're solid enough for me. I'll probably be ordering a batch this fall. Let me know if you want some. Then I can ski your pair.

Heh. Thanks, splat. Let me know what the cost will be, but you can try my pair regardless (assuming that your boots fit, which is obviously more a question if I opt out of the demo route and instead mount d10s).

I'm thinking about mounting mine with the new Frischti Pro's. Then I stumbled upon the puderluder binding inserts and realised i can mount them with Pro's and something else. Hopefully this won't be needed but the idea to choose between alpines and pros got in my head and now I have a hard time getting it out.

Anyone got some tips on why I shouldn't mount them like this?

It's a long shot but has anyone tried these on tele?

If not have any tele skiers tried them alpine who might have a view on how they might ski tele? In particular I am interested in how they might compare with the Lotus 120s?

i don't believe any of the proto type pairs from last year ended up getting mounted telemark.

somewhere i posted a brief review of these, they are fairly different than the 120 (much tighter sidecut, much shorter running length, much more rocker). so they ski looser in powder, carve deeper on firm snow, but give up a little truck at top end speed (like 50mph).

    hopefully that helps?

Thanks Marshal - 10 pages in - you must be somewhat tired of discussing every last nuance of these skis.

The reason for my question is that I ordered the Lotus 120 as a powder stick thinking that I should go fatter to avoid overlap with my existing quiver (Revs - 93 underfoot). Also Mike at DPS also seemed to think that the L120 would be better than the Wailer on tele. However given that I don't tend to ski at breakneck speeds, often enjoy the trees and will use these as a mix of 50% resort / 50% BC I am wondering if I would enjoy the Wailers more.

    178. I'm about 135lbs and 5'7" and mostly ski around 170 normally. Oh, and I went for the hybrid option.

do you want the ski to be a surfy powder ski then? if so the lotus 120 is a good call. the lotus will have a more supportive tail, so if your balance is not always 100% on, they will be easier to ski for sure... i am not the most awesome tele'er so i need that help personally.

if you want more versatility, then the w112rp is a great option. both will be awesome in fresh snow in the woods, do not worry there.

Thanks Marshal. Perhaps I am getting post purchase panik. The support of the flat tail of the 120 is probably going to be helpful!

If you think that the manouverability in soft snow is likley to be similar between the two then I'd probably stick with the 120. I think that I was mistakenly getting the impression that the Wailer might require less input to turn in the deep due to the greater rocker. I was thinking that this would be more attractive in the trees, but it sounds like the main differences would be 'feel' in the soft and turn radius on the groomers.

You describe the Lotus as more 'surfy' and the wailer as 'looser'. I would probably have used the two words to decribe the same thing! Could you clarify the difference? I would imagine that by looser you are describing something that will slide sideways easier?

I'm also leaning toward the Marker Tour 12s. I like Dynafits, but I also like the ability to ski at the resort with non-Dynafit boots. The Tour 12s seem like a good compromise, particularly because I will likely see more resort days on these skis than bc days.

These 2 quotes from another thread have me doubting Tour 12 on my 112RP.

This is more of a resort/slackcountry ski no?

I will be getting sollyfit plates, 914's and ft12's will be the order of the day. I have some 120's with the dynaduke plates that I love.

I'm wondering the same. Pre-orders are supposed to be shipped by October 15. I know I can't use them for months, but I feel the need to fondle.
