Belafontes look very cool, but to be honest, I am not an expert skier, not skiing 100 days a season; just a 40 day sidecountry gaper. I keep hearing these are going to be uber stiff, is this the case? The dims are so sweet, I want to want them but I want them to be good for tighter trees and shots and not something that is really meant for big open areas and sierra cement. at 170 pounds, I need them to be manageable.

You want the 184 or 190 Bibby. Very playful, easy to ski, quick, lively, and can handle charging too.

    belafonte stiffness

Anyone have a chance to see how these compare to the new Atomic Access? They are pretty similar shape/camber/rocker, a bit fatter, and I'm guessing a lot stiffer?? Looking to stay on the softer side for fun.

new site is due any time now.... Spoke to them yesterday and I will defer to the Moment folks sicne they are the experts but I am pretty sure the NT is now the more playful ski over the Bibby. The NT gets a profile and carbon layup change. The entire Bibby lineup gets the 190 construction and becomes a little stiffer and more "hard" snow capable. From what I understand, the NT is more lively and playful. (don't quote me on that ) Here's what I see as the new spec's

    MOMENT NIGHT TRAIN
We've all been waiting for this Train since the reverse-camber/reverse-sidecut revolution began. The Night Train carries generous width for powder flotation and the hyper-agility of an early-rising, early-taper twintip design. Traditional sidecut and flat camber underfoot let you move from the deep to the groomed or anywhere in-between without losing your cool. New carbon fiber stringers make it even lighter, and a longer, more-gradual tip rise adds extra stability in variable conditions. New-shape, hybrid, call it whatever you want. We call it the answer to the rocker dilemma.

    + Aspen/Psh wood core
    + UHMW sidewalls
    + 2.2mm edge
    + 4001 DuraSurf sintered base
    + Triaxial fiberglass
    + Reinforced binding mount laminate
    + Carbon fiber stringers
    + VDS dampening system

    Prices are getting up there.

They aren't uber-inflated prices, but I sure liked paying $100 less two years ago. I'll be paying the premium and buying another pair either this season or next regardless.

OK, that ends my whiny, bitch-fest on inflation.

Buy them from backcountry or evo then. It's actually better if you do. It's important that they get into shops so they can continue to grow the business and put out awesome stuff. Not only are the prices cheaper on your end, but places like bc and evo have a much larger audience/clientbase. Even better if your local shop carries them and you get them there instead.

Any pictures of the early rise profile on the new Garbones? I have an older pair where the early rise extends pretty far back. One of the best skis I've ever been on.

I want the new Garbones so so bad.

Last year Craig was telling me about how he was redesigning the ski and I said you should make it 140-110-120. I'd say thats close e-fucking-nough! .

Take your riding to the next level, grow some balls with the Garbones.
Do you by chance happen to own a large, yellowish, very flat cat?

So I´m in the line for 192 Belafontes or the new Garbones and retire my ANTs, only skied the 182 belafontes so far, and can´t test the other two. really liked the 182s exept for feeling short, flex seemed easy.

So how much stiffer is the 192 garbones (factory whatever) gona be, kinda stupid question.
is the flex profile the same on the belafontes and the new garbones and what up with the dims on your site? the two have the same rocker but the bela has 10cm longer surface lenght??

would be sweet if melee or sombody whos skied both could give me a hint...fyi I´m a skinny euro jong and can´t make sense of the rocker pic
