Elk mostly for me here in central Idaho.
Got a nice spike a couple years ago, but no luck since then.
I have had some of the most intense times of my life hunting elk. Bugled back and forth and playing peeky with a huge 6 point for about 45 minutes at 25 yards.
I was so drained when he finally left I could barely make it back to the car.
Lots of great times walking my bow through the woods.

Grew up in whitetail heaven (west texas) did mostly rifle but some bow as well. Shot an old Mathews, it was the only lefty I could find. Deer hunting isn't really about hunting in Texas though, it's management with the option of missing. Never did any turkey hunting with a bow, but always wanted to try one of those crazy decapitating arrows.

Fred Bear for Whitetail out of a tree stand, climbing stand, or a G30 hub blind.

My 8 year old daughter is getting into it too. At her after school they made bows and arrows. Crude but a cool project. I think we will work on a nice one for her next. And I never pimped her on it. She wanted to get into it.

It's like high culture for rednecks.
My unlce and cousin pulled into their camp spot around Cuba a few years ago and an Elk was right there, so they shot it. I don't think they shot anything else all weekend. I don't know what you call it, but you don't call it hunting.
I do admire people who really hunt though, people who sit in boxes on migratory paths, not so much.
Well that's my librodouche take on it. but I'll regret it when the apocalypse comes I know. But when that happens I'll just shoot FDV and take all his meat.

done some bowhunting, shot a little 3-D
did OK i guess, had fun
now i hunt for a living (or at least part of it), with a boat and a longline
and manage to have a little luck with a rifle during the slack times between jobs
but i haven't really picked up a bow in a while
a lot of my attitudes about hunting have changed a lot in the last few years...

Spend most of rifle season stillhunting, looking to spend more time stillhunting with the bow next season, anyone recommend some good reading.
debating the hunting vs. non hunting culture is almost as useless as debating if its better living in the west or east

Whitetail in Massachusetts but for me it's mostly been targets...and the occasional shed.

Back in the day I did archery at highschool ... and then ran a very small community archery club/meetup for 2 years.
I was never a really good shot. I went straight from the cheapest glass-plastic bows to a nice 55 lb compound. I'd say that I never was actually taught or learned to do it really well apart from a few school competitions and some influence from others in the club.
It has been 30 years since I even fired an arrow!
Which brings me to Lars and the numerous YouTubers into traditional bows. Lars IS the Shane McConkey or Candide Thovex of archery.
I might get back into this sport. Maybe the wife can even join in.

Back in the day, I was a JONG.
Long before bots. But, just yesterday, I pulled out of my ashtray an old small game head, and thought to myself, man, that has taken some really amazing grouse.
So, what was your question?
