7 Hours of the Banana
I thought I should spread the word about this event for anyone who is interested. It is, afterall, a fundraiser.
The banana is the steep chute right under the peak at Crested Butte, as seen here (green line):
Whether as a team or flying solo, the goal is to make as many laps as possible from bell to bell (9 to 4), hence the 7 hours of the banana. I think it's about 2500' of vert and it'll hurt. A lot.
Should be a lot of fun for you enduro types, plus lots of parties and prizes and stuff. The date is Feb 27 and it's a fundraiser for the adaptive sports center and the Cb ski club.

I skied that naked in 1996.
edit: ...thus skillfully crafting my one and only naked run: banana to no-fat-chicks traverse.

Last time I skied that run it was solid moguls top to bottom. That sounds like a recipe for pain.

Goldenboy.....that shit is all you........I totally believe you can win that.
You imply you are NOT one of those "enduro" types......I am not buying it. You ski every fricking day, and although you only bike to kill time until snow flys, you also did a 24 hour solo just because.
My money is on GB.Donjoy to the World!

^^^^ GB won't be participating since we'll be in Canada (yay!). I wish GB was skiing everyday, but he's most definitely not. I have nearly twice as many ski days than he does! (That's why I'm making him go to Canada- gotta drag him away from all that stinkin' drywall work!)

^^^ No doubt. 31 laps and almost 65,000'. I thought the winner would be more in the low-mid 20's for laps

Not saying it isn't amazing that they got 31 laps, but they did run the lift on super extra fast speed that day. Something like a 7 minute chair ride I think?
One day I did 6 laps on the Banana. Then I was tired, so I had a beer. /Blog
