Sorry, Comish, this choice is too easy. But I promise to make it in the next few weeks.

Plus, I got some homies coming in from Bend for the occasion.

    Sunday night conversation:

Miss P: Why are you packing all your ski gear? It's only October. They open around Thanksgiving right?
    P: Right.
Miss P: That means I still have 5 weeks of you!
P: Yep. Then you'll see me next April.
Miss P: <slowly undresses and gives a lapdance> Will this change your mind?

Arty, it's a longshot- but tempting. Just depends on what the local WA forecast looks like this weekend. I have a feeling that conditions here might be good enough for some hiking this weekend not to warrant a 12 hour+ drive (although the subie is itching for a road trip...). So get some nice lift served turns in for us in the NW in the meantime!

Awww, that's so sweet. Boo. C'mon, it's opening weekend!! Even if it is just chairs 5 and 11...lapdances can be given at any time.

Splat, you know I do! And as long as you let the studly Legoskier have a try at the Bros, too....

    Will do!

As for Kirkwood, it's a long drive for only two intermediate lifts. If you're really desperate, come down. Otherwise, if you want to hit the Wood save the gas money for later in the season.

According to the Kirkwood website, "We will NOT have rentals, demos, ski school or day care available." Ubersheist, I'm afraid we're going to have to leave you at home.

I just got some new softshell ski pants for $5. Move over Spats, you no longer have the ugliest outfit on the mountain.

And, I'd kind of like to take a spin on them too. Working on a pair of alpine boots to borrow for the weekend.

Jeezeuz, Nate, I though you said you were somewhere else this weekend.

Anyone else notice the small avys and associated fracture lines in P3? Must 've been triggered by ski patrol. Pretty shallow, but...

Damn, Nope, I'm there Sat and hopefully bc somewhere on Sunday to get the kinks out.

Yup, Uber, noticed. Also not the bomb hole in the top one, but no hole in the second release lower. You'll see that kind of thing anytime above treeline following a wind heavy event. Early season is definitely a time to pay close attention to the snowpack here in the Sierra. The snow pack is thin and likely to have large TGs.

You can see 3 patrollers along the ridge, one to the right of P3 and two above P1....
The Mammoth site now lists 23 under expected chairs open so looks like there's a chance they will open up the top, or at least part of it....
