I'll go with Dolores O'Riordan of the Cranberries.
Johnette is first runner up, then Chrissy Hynde.
Them's my favorites - for today at least.

To me rock is rock -- thats why they call it rock (well that sounds stupid but there's lot's of variations). My fave lately is the lead of the Distillers.

Scientists now have decisive molecular evidence that humans and chimpanzees once had a common momma and that this lineage had previously split from monkeys.

Another old-time fav; albeit, more folky than rock: Marianne Fathfull.
Certainly, worth a mention.
Didn't Mick hit that?“How does it feel to be the greatest guitarist in the world? I don’t know, go ask Rory Gallagher”. — Jimi Hendrix

Yes he did. The song "You Can't Always Get What You Want" was a song about their love affair and her heroin addiction.
"You damn colonials and your herds of tax write off dressage ponies". PNWBrit

Siouxsie Sioux
Kate Bush
Nancy Wilson (way hotter than Ann, AND played guitar)
Wendy O'Williams
Lita Ford
Debby Harry
Chrissy Hynde
Stevie Nicks
Joan Jett
Tina Weymouth
...all these women (and many others I cannot remember at the moment) all were part of my R&R Fantasy in the late 70s and 80s.
Allison Mossheart is my current muse. That lady has an awesome rock voice.

What about that Evanescence singer? I kinda like her stuff. She doesn't suck to look at or listen to.
