For those that don't, you missed out on an incredible person. Thanks for bringing the news that I, (and many others), was dreading, Tye. Wish I had pics to post. I do have infinite memories of Huevos and toasts big fella. you will be missed!

Very sad indeed. The big guy with the even bigger heart. Thanks AS, i couldn't get it together to put the bad news up here. Big sigh. The world was a better place with you in it Big Wally. Pic from Goatstock09, off of his carepage.

Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.

man that is terrible news! I met Big Wally while on exchange in Jackson a few years back.
I just read about the avalanche a few hours ago on Facebook and posted something up hoping the outcome would be positive.
This really freakin' sucks.
RIP Wally, comin' from me and the rest of the Fernie Ski Patrol. Stay strong brethren of the JHSP while you come to grips with this."if it's called tourist season, why can't we just shoot them?"

Damn. That is not what I wanted to hear. Thoughts go out to those who were close to him.
it's all young and fun and skiing and then one day you login and it's relationship advice, gomer glacier tours and geezers.

my thoughts go out to all who knew him.....its harsh when those that make it safe for us to have fun are taken in the course of their duties to protect us.....thank your local patroller for keeping us all safe.

Wally was quality, through and through.
He took his job seriously, though, and I (would like) to think that he would rather have had it be him than a visitor, just here for turns 'n giggles.
He helped me once in a very, very scary situation, (years ago) after post-holing back out of a chute in Casper where I clearly wasn't going to make the huck, (the same exact time frame that another person died in RS in an avie) I met him, all worn out and humiliated, and all he said was 'Discretion is the better part of valor'.
And left it at that.
Soul.
He will be missed greatly.

So totally wrong.
One of the best, coolest patrollers ever.
I was thinking yesterday about the irony that he was carried down to the bottom of Wally's World by the slide where they had to dig him out.
"We are not here for a long time, we are here for a good time."
RIP big man.. . .

Condolences to all that knew Wally.
And a big thanks to all the patrollers out there that risk what they do, so we can ski what we do.

Wow, from his pic there are not many things I would guess he was but a 'troller.
Never had the pleasure but I bet he was an awesome dude.
