Euro TR: CH Steeze: Pow and Postcards

Talk started on the STFE thread late Thursday about how the “fog” had produced an ample amount of snow in the Luzern area of CH even though the rest of the country was dry and cold. SLF and our Euro-Weather-Czar Subtle Plague confirmed the anomaly, so Ripzalot, KK and I planned a little escape into the land of powpow and postcard pics.

Saturday 5:30AM came quickly and we were off to grab Ripz in Lavaux and head to the canton of Schwyz.

Upon arrival it was pounding down and we geared up and headed to race for first tracks…the competition was fierce!

Vis was marginal, but our Funicular driver got us to the goods:

    SLF was reporting 75cm……at least…..

The day was a mix of passing cloud, random sun, and pounding snow…..but that really didn’t matter……….it was all about the day 1 DEEP! Below is a little sampling…
KK killing it in the Knife Valley:

I had to get some too:

Ripz showing Floridians can ski too:

I think this picture sums it up nicely!

It was one of those days we will probably not forget anytime soon. 90CM+ of blower, in -15C temps, with in and out vis. The day ended with it still snowing hard outside and us eating some nice low calorie pork steaks covered in garlic butter:

The next day the clouds parted and it was on again. The wind had ripped some of the snow..but we found a few stashes in the land of postcards…

    The peeps…..
    KK:

    Ripz:

    G:

Another perfect day…. bluebird, pow all over, and great friends…and of course pork, beer, and a view:

So hope you enjoyed.....Happy Holidays from Euroland!
