"as soon as my blackness enters the screen...... nothing."
"Shit, I'll choke her while she's cleaning, and I'll do it wearing a helmet cam mounted on a full-face helmet.
I'll have meatdrink9 do the lighting for the shot. He'll make it artsy as fuck."

That was pretty funny, especially the part about buying one for xmas.

I wonder if it can be tuned to fit the skin tone of the user or how using it in different lighting would affect it.

Funny - I "know a guy" that works at HP. This is getting quite a bit of internal press...

Face recognition software is based on Contrast. If a camera can't "see" the eyes, nose, and mouth of a darker skinned person it's not going to think it's a face that needs tracking, but simply a dark blotch in the landscape. To have a face-detection setting with higher resolution and more discerning of lower contrast subjects would take up way more room (for the sensor) or be more CPU intensive for existing systems.

    That's not racist, that's electronics.

I was wondering why the canon snapshot camera I used this weekend was framing the white people in the pictures but the black peoples' faces weren't picked up.

Try it in front of a white backdrop and it will be reversed.

Then those automatic sensor washroom faucets first came out, they didn't work for black people. They just hadn't thought to test them with anyone but white folks. I'm sure its a similar deal.

How do we know the computer is racist? Maybe it's sexist.

"We believe that the camera might have difficulty `seeing' contrast in conditions where there is insufficient foreground lighting."

    Yeah, right, Frosty. Racist.
