Here's to hoping somebody with deep pockets buys Tline and tries to make a go of it. Sad to think it may be done.

IKR... 81 inches of natural and couldn't even keep one trail open from the summit this whole season... much less a chairlift to get people up there..

If you are interested enough most of the particulars are here.

They are done, never really open this year. Multiple legal problems chief of which Dr. R has been indicted in a pill mill operation.

Way too much content in that pugski thread for one sitting.

Tline was my home ski area for my entire childhood. My parents just finally relocated to the Pacific time zone to be closer to their kids this past summer. They're loving it out here and it seems like they sold their house in the valley just in time - it'd be a hard sell now w/ the ongoing water issues & resort shutdown.

But the truth is, that part of the valley has been on a downward slide for a long time. Hopefully someone can dust off the remains and bring it back, but I'm not optimistic that it'll be any time soon. The state park stepping-up their game didn't help, either. Competition only breeds innovation when the players involved are competent. In this case, Timberline needs to be picked-up by some people who actually ski.

If anyone's out and about on Monday, I'm headed to Blue or CB...haven't decided yet.
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Debating pass options for next season...

Got the Ikon base pass this year and after four days at Sugarbush and four days in SLC feel like I broke even. Was planning on taking a trip or two to the Shoe, which would have made it a better option, but ended up spending local days at Bryce teaching the 6yo and 3yo how to ski.

Honestly, for what I did this year the Mountain Collective would have been a better option. If the MC had two days at ANY resort within 3ish hours of the DC / Nova area that would be a no-brainer for me.

What are other mid-atlantic skiers doing for passes next year? Honestly hate having to commit this early...

Probably going ikon, I'm not completely convinced yet. I need to look into pass pricing for VT, with work I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it out west.

I also may use my .edu email address to look into getting a Jay college pass. It's still my favorite mountain this side of the Mississippi and the pass pays for itself after a weekend.

Rain's supposed to end around 6am in the mountains tomorrow. Heading up there for a few more laps. Next weekend's the end of season rail jam. Fun to watch but not a good day to ski. After that the base will probably be mostly gone. No PTO or money saved for any trips farther away. So, probably last call for me. Might take a look at conditions again if things hold later in to the month down this way but tomorrow morning should be fun. Temps will hit 60s or maybe even 70 by afternoon though. I'll be heading home when it gets too sloppy.

Probably take a trip up to Wintergreen tomorrow for a couple hours. Not getting up super early, leave around 8:30 and be skiing by noon. Not staying all that long but want to get a few more runs in before it's all gone.

I got screwed out of skiing mid week due to the garage not having their shit together. Oh well.

Maybe next week will be better.

    CVR is closing on Sunday.

You at Snowshoe today? Wondering how tomorrow will be. Considered going today but the rain in DC scared me off

Not today, plan to go back next Wed. Rain in the swamp is often snow in the highlands.

Hard to say. Fred and Tracy Fucknuckle keep throwing wrenches in the machine. Sounds like some slimy lawyer got Doc R off on a technical.

Sounds like ol' Timberline is gone for good. Their website is no more and their last post on Facebook was back in Feb.

Looks like my parents fled the Mid-A just in time...

I know the logistics are nowhere close to done but if everything goes through they are a pretty well-run family outfit. It should make Timberline a fun place to be again.

They can make snow like no other and will invest heavily I would think. Hopefully my season pass will be good both places then.

They're gonna have to invest heavily just to unfuck the place. I really hope they can make it work, but they're fighting an uphill battle, and are starting in a hole.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.
